Would You Like To Play A Game? or Which one and only one, well maybe this or that.

Given that the DC ban will be going away, I'm going to try to register a handgun. That means I get only one!

So...very concealable or not so concealable?

A Glock 19 would be a good compromise, but I like the idea of a revolver. I'll choose:

S&W "new" Registered Magnum

3.5" barrel
8x357 Magnum
Performance Center trigger job
Ball detent lockup
Checkered top strap
Square butt grip with Magna stocks

I vote for the G27, but if you like the G26 so be it. I just can't get past a snubbys crappy capacity...

Well, back many years ago when I only had one handgun it was a stainless Ruger Security Six .357. It served me as a holster gun in the woods while hunting and as concealed self-defense gun and as a house and tent gun. I learned to load ammo for it with an old Lee Loader tool. It was really slow but made for lots of cheap ammo. The revolver was strong and easy to maintain. Its trigger slicked up the more I shot it. With rubber grips, .357 ammo was pretty comfortable to fire. It was a dang fine revolver...I am dang glad I kept it. If I had to have only one, that would be it...

4" or 4.5", 5-shot .45 colt revolver, on a Taurus Tracker frame (no porting) or S&W L-frame. Would work for both CCW and hunting.

Note that your question:

This has probably already been done. But, if you could have only ONE handgun, what would it be?
This would not be for home defense because you have a shotgun. This will be for concealed carry in all seasons.

did NOT limit the handgun use/bases it needed to cover to CCW only - you said it must cover CCW in all seasons. You did NOT say that it didn't ALSO need to cover woods gun uses, after saying "But, if you could have only ONE handgun, what would it be?" So my answer would be very different if CCW ONLY. And yes, I think it just *might* have been done once before. :)

Lol, "War Games" with the young Matt Broderick was on some cable channel the other day: "Would..you..like..to..play..a..game?" - good gosh, 80s movies are cheesy, looking back. :p

My choice would be a 5 shot .38 snubby or a G26.

The "only one gun" game again.

"CC for all seasons"? I'm in Illinois, Peoples Republic of. I'd love to have that dilemma. We don't have may issue. We don't have "capricious issue". We have "Chicago alderman issue".

Anyway, right now, I'd probably say 5 shot .357 snub nose.

I don't really want a Taurus 85 -- I'm not crazy about shooting revolvers. BUT, I've determined that it is the most suitable gun for me to carry given all the factors I have to take into account in making that decision. --3killerbs

I was wondering what you'd finally decided on. I picked up a Taurus 605, stainless (basically the same as the 85, in .357), a couple weeks back. So far, looks good, w/ 300+ rounds through it. Trigger's smoothed up a fair bit. .38's easy to shoot (.357 hurts). If it keeps working out, next gun might well be the same thing, hammerless.

Just one handgun - that would be a sad day....
But, I would most likely have a 1911, with a few different barrels (.22 and 9mm for plinking, .45ACP for self defense and carry)

Yes, this has been done once or twice, and I think I'd probably have to go with the Ruger Security-Six in stainless with a 4-inch barrel. Those who have Security-Sixes or who have fired them won't need to ask why it would be a favorite. Yet I would pick it if I had access to a wide range of ammunition.

If I had to choose one gun for a bug-out bag and carry all my ammunition with me that I'd ever be able to use, it would be a Mark II Ruger 4" in stainless.

Either way it would be a Ruger.

Would have to be my S&W 442. There is nothing like (almost) forgetting you are carrying!

Ruger GP100 with a 3" Barrel. That's what I carry off duty as my primary.

My BUGS, also carried IRL, are the 2 1/4" Ruger SP101 and the S&W 442. For the sake of your game, and your imposed limit I selected my most frequently carried off duty "Primary" gun. If I couldn't have that one I'd select the Glock 26 as long as I can pick the ammo.

At the moment I'd have to flip a coin between my CZ-75B and my Springfield Mil-Spec 1911A1.

So... put the two together... and I'd say a CZ97, even though I don't own one and haven't even handled one.

:banghead:

Given that I like to carry concealed and hunt, if it was only one gun here in indiana, I'd opt for my Ruger GP100 with 4 inch barrel, or replace it with a .44 rehawk with 4 inch barrel. Not great concealed carry, but the hunting is important too!
