Would you migrate to another state?

Been there, done that

We fled an east-coast liberal state about 10 years ago. Gun laws in particular, and socialist policies in general were the motivation.

What happens when there r no more states to migrate to.

This is becoming a concern. My wife isn't tickled with the state we currently live in (cold/flat/cold/windy/cold) and wouldn't mind moving, but each election the blue creeps closer and closer. There aren't that many more places to live free, and I'm of an age that I don't really want to start over w/out a better reason.

For you Texans, I wouldn't be too sure of the long-term prognosis. We've watched what happened to Colorado as the Californians fled, and it's happening to Montana also. Texas being a border state will eventually get overwhelmed in a similar fashion. We've got to reverse the tide nationally rather than all run to the last few red states.

Yes. I'm a CO native and truly love this state, but if we saw NY style laws come to fruition, I'd be looking at Wyoming, Texas and Alaska.

Right now our Governor is seeking to make all private sales go through background checks. 13 years ago, they did so with gun show sales in the wake of Columbine (Republican governor signed, lots of pressure). It'll tick me off, but not enough to close my business and pack up my family. But if they pass some kind of ban or registration, different story. Would also depend on if our sheriff had any intention of enforcing, though, which would make him very unpopular in an 80% conservative county where firearms outnumber residents 9 to 1.

Yes, I would move. That might not be as viable an option for some as others, I know. For me, I'd put the house on the market and start applying for jobs in a state that hasn't set fire to the Bill of Rights and launched an unconstitutional assault on civil rights. Hopefully this will get reined in before the cancer spreads too far.

I am half way to Northern Idaho for the duration. Have a house up here and will sell the house in CA soon. Half way home already.

I had the good fortune of being stationed in fl. When I got out, my collection that would be numerous felonies in ny was a big factor on not moving back there. I still have an old 7.7jap rifle back in ny with my parents, thinking of having it sent down before ny decides ww2 bolt guns r assault weapons.

I'm in the process of it. I've worked hard my entire life to improve the political situation in NYS and this is what you end up with.

If all else fails I will relocate to Pennsylvania and commute. I despise what NYS has become. Court challenge or not, it's time to move on and never look back.
Welcome to the free state of PA! over here CCP is shall issue, all NFA is legal including full auto, grenade launchers and mortars. and automatic knives as well.

The only thing we can't do is hunt with semi auto rifles, must be manual.

Yea, I'm pretty much done. Born and raised in NY. I work in NYC. I'm paying over 300$ a month just for the honor of commuting to work every month. We don't have kids so I'm honestly considering Texas.

Already talked to the wife. If this nonsense comes to PA (unlikely but you never know) we are outta here for TX, UT, WY or such

Bob

Some states like Texas and Arizona are proudly vocal about it, and frankly warmer weather sounds pretty good, even if I might need to learn spanish to get along.

Would help... but not a necessity per say. The national language down here is not to difrnt from your native English... just has a bit of a Texas twang to it's all... :D

If you can understand Tommy Lee Jones in the movies "y'all be just fine!"

Voting with your feet is pretty effective if enough people do it. NY already lost another 1.5 MILLION people in the last census, replaced with immigrants. There are plenty of other reasons to get out other than the new gun laws. Crime rates are high, the job situation stinks and tax burdens are absurd. Not to mention having to live under the rule of autocratic billionaires. If enough tax payers keep leaving for greener pastures, the state will eventually start to resemble a huge version of Detroit. Parts of it already do. When you're talking about the average law abiding gun owner, you're talking about the kind of people who are the foundation of a community. Typically middle income, tax paying, home owning folk. Those people, when they leave, are very difficult to replace.

I'm starting to see only grim alternatives.

Grim?! Getting out of NY is like getting negative biopsy results back. And there are alternatives.

I ride out to the range on my bicycle with a rifle in tow. I've bought an M1A from a local cop out of the back of his squad car. It's paradise.

Nope. Born in California 63 years ago, gonna die here. Rural resident here in northern state, very pro-gun area, shall issue Sheriff.

It wouldn't be too fast for me, but I would eventually, if I could afford it and my state passed legislation restricting me. For those of you who don't know me (read: everyone on here) I don't even like going on vacation outside of my local area. I have planned never again to leave my state if I can help it. But if my state starts to oppress me, I'll be out ASARP (as soon as reasonably possible).

If I lived in New York, I'd have packed my bags a long time ago.

At the rate people are fleeing there liberal States and populating Texas, I may have to some day. They already force me to wear my seat belt and did force us to wear helmets on motorcycles, not that I didn't before but thoes are stepping stone laws to take away all of your rights, that some people with Lib tendencys call "reasonable".

I commuted for years into St. Louis on my bike. It had bumper stickers on it that said "Let those who ride decide!" Illinois had helmet laws but Missouri didn't back then. My problem was sweating under the helmet in the summer heat stuck in traffic. It would get in my eyes and affect my vision, making it more dangerous.
Any law that incrementally chips away at our freedoms and civil liberties is not to be trusted.

Only problem is this isn't gonna stop with NY. The UN is behind this and or helping this along, along side our Liberal counterparts.

Yes,

Just as my ancestors left Prussia and Ireland.

I am just waiting for the New World(Antarctica) to warm up a little more before we move there.

Yep, if it came down to it. My wife and I already have discussed it. I hope it never comes to that, but oh well. We know how difficult it would be, but we both believe wholeheartedly in the 2nd amendment.
