Would you rather: Glock 43 or Sig P938

Plan2Live,.....I initially was going to buy a Glock 43,....get Ameriglo night sights for it, and put the Taran Tactical base plates on the magazines [which I ended up getting awhile back....a +1 and a +2]. Was really waiting on Glock to come out with a FDE model like they did with the G42.

But while waiting, I happened to get a Sig P938 [one with the Hogue grip, rear night sights, front night sight and fiber optic, 6 round mag and 7 round mag] on gunbroker for $550 shipped and transferred. But I still wonder about the G43 sometimes.

Thanks for the responses everyone. They have been helpful!

I just put my 938 on consignment at my local shop. It just wasn't doing it for me.

It's a really cool little gun, but I just prefer carrying/shooting my 43. My 26 is my other carry pistol so just makes things easier I guess.

I plan to replace the 938 with a 225, think I'll have more fun with that.

I looked at both. I decided on the Glock based on having owned them for so long. The SIG is an excellent gun. But the Glock's work well and I would not whine if it gets a little scuffed up.

Your money.. Your decision.

I own a Glock 43 as well as their model 23 and 21SF. My employer would invite Glock representatives to their property for yearly weapons training and the Glock reps would take a cable out at the gate, string all their Glock 17's behind the van, and pull the handguns down the dirt road through mud holes to the range. When they handed you the weapon they would say if it malfunctions that they would repair it and give it to you to take home as in yours for keeps. Nobody ever got lucky enough to take home a beaten up Glock 17. I'm sure our range was not the only demonstration area those pistols were dragged down dirt roads and tortured.
That's why I pocket carry a Glock 43.

Really?

(Opens bag of popcorn)

Aside from that, the question compares two firearms with completely different characteristics. Most will pick the one they are more familiar with - SA with safety vs DA with none is a frequent line of division in handgun owners - for beginners. Shoot enough of them and you choose which is best for that application.

Duty belt gun? P938 ancestry. Pocket carry? DA no safety. I have a P938 which is a tad too big to fit my pockets, it gets belt carry only. And a Kahr CW380, DA only, which has a trigger pull within a tenth of an inch of a standard Glock, and arguably is just as "safe."

In pocket carry I consider a slide hold open more important than SA or DA trigger - experts exist on both and it's a matter of gaining confidence in your interaction, not which trigger you can "trust" to keep you alive. After that some prefer to carry a gun they like for it's features and appearance - nothing wrong with carrying a metal framed gun with nice grips, etc. Concealed being concealed nobody sees it but the owner anyway. Suit yourself.

But drag them down a dirt road thru mud and then challenge the shooter he can keep it if it malfunctions?

I'm biased and won't own a gLoCk, so 938 would be my choice. Basically I'd take a SIG over a gLoCk any day of the week and again on Sunday.

Most folks buy on price, so factor that in when you read the responses.

Not a fan of safeties on carry guns. I'll take my G43 (sometimes in a pocket with just a MIC holster), when I don't take my Walther PPS M2.

I own Sigs (glocks for grown ups) and I bought the 43 a year ago just to try it out ...oh and to tick off my son who is ultra Anti Glock.
The 43 smokes the other 380s (with the exception of my ...no kidding here...Bersa 383) in control...to quote my son (begrudgingly between his teeth) "You point the pistol and the bullet goes there.

Glock by far. Mainly because I shot a Sig P938 once and the rear plate on the slide fell out.

Plus I don't like manual safeties on handguns.

Really neither I prefer pocket guns to not have manual safeties, but Glocks just don't fit me (haven't actually held a 43 though) and as a small belt gun I might as well carry something just a bit bigger.

OP posted over a week ago that he'd bought the P-938 and yet here we are ... everyone still touting their favorite, but few noting actual experience with both pistols.

"Rear plate" on the slide? Are you talking about the firing pin retainer plate (firing pin stop)? Sounds to me like a pistol owner who attempted a complete disassembly and screwed up in reassemply ... Have never in over forty years of experience with 1911s and numerous other semi-autos heard of such an occurrence with an unmolested firearm.

The way I read it is OP had already bought the 938 and was still concidering buying or trading for a G43, especially since the thread was started less than 36 hours before the post about buying the 938.

Glock 43, the P938 is basically a mini 1911 and IMO a 1911 is not a good choice for CCW.

The Glock 43 is also about $150 cheaper.

I am not as concerned about pretty and great smooth trigger on a CCW gun.

I'm looking at a smaller pistol for CCW for when I'm pounding the miles fast walking in areas here in Denver where currently I'm carrying a NAA .22mag IWB.

Got it down to either a Sig 938, a Glock 43 or a Kahr PM9.

I like the 938 as it's got a similar operation as to my 1911 .45ACP CCO which is my regular CCW.

I totally enjoy and appreciate the safeties on a 1911. Ideal for carry and self defense!

I'd opt for the P938 over the Glock since you like 1911 style pistols. I don't know about the Kahr. I sold my Glock 26 and went with the P938.

Sig

Reasons, in order of importance:

1) Easier to shoot accurately
2) Better sights
3) Better ergonomics

Obviously, those reasons are subjective and just my opinions. YMMV

I think reliability/durability is a draw, now that they have both been out for awhile.

Not bashing the Glock 43 either, I'd feel very comfortable carrying one.

A potential downside for some (also subjective) of the Sig is that it's SAO. And magazines are $35-45 each.

Love or hate Glocks but the ease of complete disassembly and reassembly is a marvel of engineering compared to almost all others.

Say what? You do own pistols other than gLoCk's and realize they are all very simple to take down right?

Most of my HK's are far simpler to take down than any gLoCk on the planet.

ETA: + They don't require you to pull the trigger.

Uh, no. Time to catch up with the rest of the world.
Most currently produced semi-autos are easier to field strip than Glocks. Berettas, SIGs, H&Ks, FNS/FNX, M&Ps, for example ...

And I am concerned about those who don't think a good trigger is an item of concern on a CCW gun.
