Would You Support A Gun Sale Drive- Proceeds To NRA

Lets think about this a minute. And NRA bashers are dismissed. Move along, nothing to see here.

Most of us own multiple guns and because of such, may not have disposable income at the moment. I was thinking, what if we all got together and donated proceeds for the sale of one of our personal guns to the NRA? The good news is, not only does the NRA get some considerable donations but the guns would also stay in circulation.

If I could set up a formal type auction where the word got out, I think the buyers would support.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Good idea, but I have no firearms I am willing to donate. Sorry on that one. I have the ones I need/want and none sits in a cabinet collecting dust. If I had one of those, I might consider it. If you want an old beat up 98 Mauser action and a Boyds stock for a future project, I might have one. However, that might fetch you a whole $50-75 and not be worth the hassle of a transfer.

I think the auction might be a great idea, but whose firearms will you be selling?

I was thinking that everyone would sell their own guns themselves. Say on a given 3 day period we auction a gun at a site of choice with something like 'Proceeds To Go To NRA', or something like that.

I will and have donated money to the NRA... Far as selling one of my guns - nope, that's not happening. Guns are currently the new gold standard. Availability of certain models is uncertain at best in the near term. In fact, I'm sorry about the ones I have sold.

How about a 2nd Amendment Victory PAC in all 50 states?If it drew some serious money in(say $100m for starters)it could get the attention of politicians and motivate gun owners,as well as educating the general public.

Just who are the "us" you imply having the un-necessary or extra guns you are targeting in your "gun sale" proposal?

Right now firearms dealers are making huge profits on banic buying. No amount of money we'd raise could hold a candle to what could be realized if each of those dealers donated 1% to the NRA-ILA.

I wouldn't mind buying granted the finances were in order but all the firearms I have currently have sentimental value and would not be for sale.

I'm sure most already donate, but I second that thought. Is there any way a lot of us could reach out to one or two of the larger US manufacturers to up the ante? Even if the idea comes with a price increase I'd pay it and consider it worthwhile, wouldn't you?

I think this is a flawed statement. I really don't think that most of us are so stupid that we buy firearms until we're absolutely broke and can't afford anything else. I buy a new firearm when I can afford to, not regardless of whether or not I can afford to. Most of us are not sitting at home going, "Man, I'd like to go to Applebees tonight, but I've got so many guns, I can't."

Or better yet, join your local NRA committee and get involved in the NRA's (already established) fund raiser events. This works for me and we have a very good committee already organized and in place.

Yeah, I think Hso's statement is a relevant one and appropriate. I don't have anything that I want to sell and donate the proceeds to the NRA. I might be willing to split the profit 50/50 if I chose to sell something. But those are nickels and dimes.
