Shown affixed to the Ruger Max-9 (pistol has been FLAWLESS too!). Some thoughts, pre-range testing at least:

Pros:
  • Green color, wow ... extremely bright!!!, pointed it out my backdoor and I could see it over 100-yds away, on a dark background, will repeat in full sun!
  • Price, $132.99
  • Module was a seamless and tight fit to the trigger guard, also appears very well constructed
  • Viridian makes dedicated LH and RH Kydex holster to fit the piece with the laser module installed (the holster is very comfortable, the little added width almost makes it feel like wearing a pancake holster!)
  • Auto-shutoff after 5-mins

Cons:
  • Not a momentary switch, but see below, I find it EASY to turn on
  • Not sure if the switch acutation can be reversed (if not, that's something V should consider for their next design). But for my use, being a lefty, I can push it on VERY easily using my 2-hand hold, by the thumb of my right hand (recall, am holding the Max-9 in my left) pushing the switch to the left.

what holster?

In my (limited) experience, adding a laser to a gun makes the holster search much harder.

Says it above … Veridian makes dedicated holsters …

Before you sing the praises of green lasers or green red dots, can you pick them up against a lush green background? At the range I love the greens, but in the field unless everything is dry and brown red is easier to find on the target.

Depends solely on environment. For self defense optics I like green. Why? Because green is nicer to my astigmatism and most people don't wear green clothing. For hunting I like red illuminated optics because it contrasts better against green or brown foliage.
