I finally got the chance to take both my Ruger Wrangler , and my Heritage Rough Rider to the range together. Just for the heck of it, I took my NAA Wasp. All with .22lr cylinders. Firing at a paper target at only 30 ft. With CCI Mini Mags.
24 shots each for the Wrangler and RR but only 5 with the Wasp because it is such a pain to load.
(Struggling with five live rimfire rounds is not in my comfort zone.)
First up the Wrangler. Three keyholes and three that did not even hit the paper. The rest all over the place. No bullseye and only two in the first ring.
Next up the Rough Rider. No keyholes, none missed the paper. No bullseyes but five in the first ring and none more than 6 inches from the bullseye.
Last up the Wasp. Two in first ring two in second ring and one dead center bullseye! What the heck?
I would have bet a bottle of Maker's Mark that the tiny Wasp would have come in last not first!
Btw the Wrangler has a 4in bbl the RR 6.5 inch .
But that much difference?

I have a Wrangler that I bought a couple years ago, but never actually shot it at paper, just metal targets. I am not the best shot with it, or atleast I didn't think I was, but maybe it is actually the gun. I will have to set some paper up and look for keyholes I guess. I do have a really nice Ruger Single Ten, but I can't hit anything with it either, so maybe it is just me?

Boy don't get me started on Ruger Wranglers. Both of mine have been at Rugers for the last two weeks because they both keyhole and I'm going to keep sending them back to Ruger until they either don't keyhole, until Ruger credits me on another gun, or until Ruger stops issuing RO's for my guns.

I guess I need to buy lottery tickets, my 4.25” Wrangler shoots much better than what seems to be the average I read about. And that’s even with bulk box Aguila. (Top 4 targets were rested, bottom offhand at 10 yds.)

The Birdshead not as well, but not as bad as many have reported theirs shooting. (Shot just as so-so offhand as rested. I think the sights being hard to see indoors was a big factor.)

Never had a keyhole with either gun, but I also didn’t see any cerakote overspray in the bore like some have experienced. (I bet that is probably a huge factor as to why their guns shoot like a .410 shotgun and these don’t.) If these had overspray and shot lousy, I also would be sending them back to get the bore cleared out.

I may get a 7.5” if they aren’t priced too far over msrp. Here in Ca we are pretty limited to gun selection so being gouged at the gun counter is pretty much SOP for us. :(

Stay safe.

I want to try another brand of ammo before I contact Ruger. I have never had a problem with CCI Mini Mags but with rim fire pistols you never know.
