Wrong holster size...?

I just recieved a holster I ordered the other day and...

It's an "Uncle Mike's Ambi. Holster w/ Magazine Pouch"
Model# 7015-0
Size: 15

It states it can fit "3-3/4 to 4-1/2 inch barrel large autos".
On the Michael's of Oregon site, it also mentions the holster can accommodate medium frame autos in addition to large frame.

I bought it for My XD-9 and figured: "Ok, it sounds like this will fit. My XD is the Service Model with a 4 inch barrel."
Now, I'm not so sure...
So, what does everyone think? I believe I have to make a return...
Or, am I mistaken? Here's an attached pic.

Yep, that is definately a return. The trigger is completely exposed and the thumb break won't even begin to snap. I hope they will exchange it for you free of charge.

It has been my experience that the XDs are particularly hard to find holsters for because of the square trigger guard, which is about a 1/16" higher (top to bottom) than a Glock. Most of the generic holsters are designed to accept a round trigger guard which also doesn't help.

On closer examination the holster would fit if not for the above reason. It appears the leading lower edge of the trigger guard is preventing further seating of the firearm into the holster. It doesn't help you now, but I forsee in the next few years better holsters for the XD series as they grow in popularity.

On a side note I am always peeved when the generic holsters always seem to have an even more generic definition of the firearm they are supposed to fit.

one thing that bugs me about uncle mike's is the generic descriptions of guns that will or won't fit. most other holster manufacturers list the makes and models of guns that will fit, right on the package.

Heh, I was thinking about returning it.
Instead, I gave it to My father.
It accommodates a S&W M39-2 pretty nicely.


...Just have to find another holster...that fits!

Holster for XD9

I have the plain ol' flimsy nylon Uncle Mike's #15, and it fits my XD40 Service just fine. I've since upgraded to a nicer holster. Are you sure they gave you a Size 15?
