Hi Gents,

I know there is a section for this sort of thing, but THIS is where the shotgun guys hang out..... At one time, or so it is rumored, Choate made an extended mag tube for a Browning Auto-5. In some circles, the existence of this tube is up there with the Yeti and Nessie. Given all of the A-5 lovers here, if such a creature exists, SOMEONE here is bound to have one, or know where to get one. If you have one you would be willing to part with, please let me know. If you know where one might be, I would appreciate a heads up. And, before you suggest it, Choate doesn't have any and doesn't know where to find any. In a perfect world, one of you gentlemen would have a two or three shot extension and would be willing to let it go for a very reasonable price. So, what say the masses?

You can take a Tacstar 2 round extension and have a easy depth extending mill cut made to allow the threads to seat deeper(there is a little more uthreaded protrusion on the end of the browning mag tube) and it works well on Auto-5's being heavily made of steel!;)

OK Gordon...you have my attention! I sent you a PM, but I need more details! Which mag tube extension are you talking about? You do realize, of course, that this is all your fault to begin with....you put that Auto-5 shorty together then talked about Louis A's 8-shot Auto-5 and I've got the bug BAD!!!! Come on and FEED THE NEED!!! :D

Browning Auto 5 (Savage)

Any more info on what type of Tacstar tube extension might have worked for your Browning Auto 5?

Ahh, memories... I had a Remington M11 w/ a 3 round custom extension, 20 inch barrel and rifle sights. That was a fun gun. Slow to reload. If it would have been a browning, I would have kept it!

Choate may still make them on special order.
They are still in Bald Knob Arkansas.
Call them up @ 1-800-972-6390

Rememebr with the reciprocating barrels, use no clamps with these extensions.

They do exist. I have one.

I do not want to sell it.

However, I know of one for sale at a store in Winterville, North Carolina called Adventure Outfitters. They have a used Choate extension for an Auto-5, I had it in my hand last week. It has some marks on the threaded ring where it was removed with pliers, but it is not rusted or damaged in any way that would effect function. Try 1-252-355-8996, during business hours and ask for Steve.
