I'm considering trading my Springer SS GI towards a reproduction Colt in either WWI or WWII configuration. Granted that's not a even trade, but the only left GI on my gun is the slide and frame. Everything has been professionally replaced with Wilson or EGW internals.
My question is, are these true copies to the original in the sense of the barrel throat and feedramp will only work with ball ammo?
I have tons of conical nose reloads I've been using in my Springer GI and would be a shame if I couldn't use them in the Colt. I did have to have the ejection port relieved a little bit so those reloads would live eject. So I could hand cycle them. I also had to put in a reduced recoil spring cause they were a lighter load and wouldn't cycle the OEM 16lb spring.
But I'm just worried these type rounds and hp ammo won't work well in the Colt, other than just ball ammo.
Anyway have experience with either model and did you have any issues with it feeding different ammo?
