Never having hunted Wyoming before, I missed the deadline to apply for the antelope drawing.
If I understand the process correctly, I will now have to wait until July to see what limited licenses might be left over. According to the WG&F website, the choices will be very limited to nil.
Does anyone here have experience in this area?
Thanks.

The last time I hunted their walk-in access areas, there were more tags available than I cared to purchase. It's all about location. And the buck tags are probably going to be sparse. IIRC, the Thunder Basin area will have an unlimited number of doe tags available. I do not recall there being any real drawing/lottery to it. Seems like I just selected the tags I wanted from their list and bought them.

Keep an eye out on the WGF web site starting about the 15th of June. Have you ducks in a row and some areas picked out. The minute the drawing is held get on the leftover link and hope the area you have decided on is still available.
The good thing about the doe/fawn license (and the cow/calf elk permits) it gives a person an opportunity to hunt and explore an area and not have the huge investment in the type 1 license and find out the area you chose is a real stinker.

That is encouraging. I will be looking for that list when it comes out.
I'm not a trophy hunter and am looking forward to visiting a beautiful state almost as much as the opportunity to go hunting.

Here's to hoping you can get a license. Antelope are about my favorite animal to hunt. I don't care for the meat except it is the best of all game meat for jerky and sausage, but when you get down on their level and hunt them on their terms, they are extemeley challenging.

Thank you gents for the replies.
I have been looking at some areas in the SE and east central parts of the state that look interesting so I hope to hunt some walk-in areas.
I have also been wondering how the herds fared over the winter? I have read that the drought has affected numbers in some locations. I hope the can recover.

The antelope and deer were in pretty tough shape. But we've got some moisture and the grass is greening and growing. So they should be getting better. Big question is going to be how many does aborted due to poor body condition.
I haven't seen any fawns yet, but the does are scattered around so it won't be long till the little dudes start showing up.
