I called X-treme Bullet Co
I wanted to know what data to use--lead or mid-jacketed data.
I told her it was their plated 38spl. 158 gr. flat nose bullet.
She said " do not exceed 1500 fps when loading this bullet for 38spl "

Jacketed data or maybe a hair less: your mid-jacketed idea. They seem more like a Gold Dot than a Berrys.

Their 158 Gr SWC shoots great, but I don't shoot it that fast, even in .357.

Good bullet. I like a couple of their offerings.

Xtreme has the thickest plating of all plated bullets. Use jacketed data.

When you look at the crimping groove in the 158 gr SWC, it looks pretty shallow, but when you put the crimp on and look with a magnifying glass, the crimp seats really well. Plus Xtremes seem to be somewhat cheaper than other plated bullets. I've loaded several boxes with 7.2 gr Unique. Seem to shoot accurately. Recoil nowhere near 'full-house'. Haven't chronographed this load yet (it's still nearly winter here in northern MN)

I have shot thousands of their 158 gr SWC in 357. I have loaded with W296, AA#9, & AA#7. I have run full house jacketed data and used CCI, Win, and Fed. primers over the years. I found that for my three 357's the best overall load was 13.5 gr AA#9. This provided the best overall performance with the three different guns. The second best overall load was book max. of W296.

As far as their plating thickness goes, it is thicker than anything I have found save the Speer Gold Dots and Unicores. I have several mangled recovered bullets and have been surprised how well their plating holds up.

I have also loaded their 9mm 115 & 124 gr, 44 240 gr and 30 Carb. 110 gr. Use jacketed starting data and work up from there to find the sweet spot for your gun.

I've used the 180 grn .40 with ~6 grn Unique. No problem except you get to pick the brass up from behind you. Accurate and nice clean holes.

I've run the X-treme 158gr plated SWC over 13.6gr of 2400. No idea of the velocity but pretty accurate and a good healthy BOOM!
