They have almost the same grip as the 9mm/40S&W XDs (as opposed to the huge grip on the Glock 21).

I'd recommend them without reservation.

XD Talk has loads of info on these fine pistols.

Thumbs up from here.

Hold it and see how it fits you, how it points. If you like how it feels, it's a great gun.

Last year I was looking for a Glock-type .45. I checked out the G21 and G21SF and the S&W. Didn't like the grips on any of the Glocks and the trigger of the Smith was horrible. Also, the 10 round mag didn't make me very happy.

I finally got a 4" XD45 and installed a set of TFO sights. I smoothed out the trigger and added a trigger stop.
Excellent gun. Handles very well and accurate. Super dependable.

Great gun. I've got the 5" Tactical model that you speak of and It's pretty much point and shoot. If you decide to purchase, check out the Viridian green laser site, very cool.

I've had one for a couple years now. They are boring to shoot, always hit where you point, feed and digest every brand of ammo I've fed it. Just plain boring, nothing to fix or tweak or tinker with. :D I'd recommend them to anyone. Of course I shoot and like my G21 just as much even more sometimes due to cheap parts and cheaper mags.

Mine is a 4" compact model...takes both 10 and 13-round mags. It's my favorite gun. Not more to say than that. :D You'll probably love it. Check the XD forum. Much happiness...few complaints.

Traded my XD40 Tactical for the XD45 Tactical. This gun is an excellent shooter, is light and easy to carry, and what I would recomment to anyone looking for a polymer 45. Get one!

And get one for the wife or girlfriend, too :)

I bought two XD's at the same time about 3 years ago; an XD9SC and an XD45/4" Bi-tone.

The "idea" was that the .45 would be mine and the sub-compact would be my wife's.
Well, we took them to the range and my wife fell in love with the .45 so now it's "hers".

To her, it was all about felt recoil, and she didn't like the "snap" of the little XD9SC compared to how the .45 "rolled" when fired so the .45 turned out to be more comfortable for her to shoot. The .45 is mainly now a house gun.

I'm not complaining, though. It turned out that I really love that little XD9SC, and it's cool as hell that I can carry it with the short mags but also slap in it's high-cap mag for a boatload of fun.
