xd .45 compact

has anyone shot the xd.45 compact w/ the 10 round mag? if so could you tell me the pros and cons compared to the regular 4" model?

good for CCW and still have the 13 round mag. Best of both worlds. Sold my XD40SC after getting the XD45C.

And for me there was no noticeable difference in recoil, which I really liked. I still wish they would make the barrel on the xd45 compact a little shorter.

**Personal opinion**

I don't care for the grip because it's way too short for my hands. The mag extension fixes that, but also defeats the purpose of buying the compact model.

The compact with the 10 round magazine allows me to get a full grip, and my hands are a little on the large size. I did wish that the barrel was shorter at first, but am glad that they decided to go with reliability first. I find it much harder to conceal the grip area, an extra inch of barrel isn't an issue. I've also heard it said that .45 ACP is a more reliable performer out of a 4" barrel, but have no idea if it's true.

Comparing the two variants, as far as I'm concerned the Compact is a Service with the option of a shorter grip when you want to conceal it. I've shot mine with both the compact and standard magazine and can't tell the difference. The mating up of the sleeve and the grip being a potential irritation point was a concern of mine, but hasn't been an issue.

haven't handled the .45 compact yet but from my experience with my XD 9 SC, the short grip is indeed short. i highly recommend the pearce grip extensions. i'd imagine they make this very gun very easy to handle/grip.

I have a compact 4" - they now make a 5" Tactical compact too
Got to say don't like the compact as much as the service or the tactical...
Its a great gun with the 10 round mag but can do without the 13 round w/sleeve ... wiggles, pinches and be aware of the location of your pinky when you "slam" ummm insert the mag or you will know where its located... Plenty of 10 + 1 45 ACP's out there but a 13 + 1 45 ACP in the grip size of the service, just not out there...

Overall a great gun and well worth it but not for me that is why its on the trading block...

I am sure that the XD45 Compact, with its 10+1 capacit with flush (and un-neutered) magazines, was designed for us behind enemy lines, meaning in California. I am thoroughly enjoying mine:

I bought one Saturday and haven't shot it yet. Will go to the range sometime this week and report back.
