XD40 lucky shot...

A friend and I went bear hunting this weekend, on the way back we saw a couple porky's on the side of the road. My buddy said he'd like one for a mount. So I jumped out and shouted "head shot!" The porky was running down hill at about 20 yards, I took him in the right eye and the 180 gr FMJ exited through the other eye... This was probably the best off hand shot I've ever made, but I'm sure it had more to do with luck than skill as I was not aiming...

Seriously though, a lot of people who have been in high pressure situations where a quick shot was made, never remember aiming. It can sometimes just be second nature and not a concious act.

At least that's what I'd claim.

I've been shooting a lot lately and have become pretty proficient, but in this case I was just showing off by calling my shot. I just drew and fired like a western gun slinger. It was pretty dang funny cuz he thought I was the man...

Nice shot! I've been tempted to hunt before but ugh... I don't think I could witness that. I like my steak on a styrofoam sheet and wrapped in plastic...

I got a bear right between the eyes once at about 30 yards first shot with my .40 Firestorm... and he was even camoflauged!! (those Ty teddybears will never take me alive!!!)
