I've shot none of, said guns in 9mm.
But own a Glock23 and had extensive range time with the XD40. So what I'll do is give my opinions on the brands themselves.
Haven't handled any M&P but have been interested.(especially their new 45 coming out, the one with a manual safety and tan frame)
Generally speaking, likes: XD- frame feel; added grip safety
Glock- simplicity; reliability and probably the largest after market.(Glock is the Honda of the gun world)
M&P- well the only thing I know is they actually took advice from the consumer. Law enforcement; ETC...
Now in truth I really don't like any of the Safe action triggers to me it's like guessing when it's going to go off. The Glock's grip is awkward for me but I shoot it consistently better then the XD. As I've said I've never handled a M&P so no point in giving opinion, I would like to see how it handles 40S&W though.
