So, I purchased a G30 when they first came out; when I took it to the range to check it out, noticed it seemed to twist in my hand and did not pass go on my way to trade it.
Ten years later, offered a deal I couldn't pass up and told myself "Maybe it was just me" Nope, it wasn't. Love the P-12...
Eyeing the XD which has just gotten sexy enough I can bear to look at it; OK, that solves one problem: does it twist too? Anybody? I am not someplace I can test one. (UK).
Thanks, J

A guy I work with bought one a year or so ago. He likes shooting his. He has medium size hands. Never heard him say anything about it twisting. Only that it is a good, reliable carry piece.

Don't know if that helps.

I have noticed a slight torque sensation when firing my XDs 45. I think that is going to happen any time you try to push a heavy bullet out of a light gun.

With a firm grip, which you need anyway to avoid jamming the XDs (they do not like limp wristing) any "twisting" is very minimal, not terribly noticeable when shooting, and isn't a problem IMO.

I usually notice it a bit on the first magazine and that's about it. It has never affected my ability to shoot the gun well. If you have really small hands or a really weak grip, it might annoy you.

It twists if you don't hold it properly. I'm relatively new to shooting pistols so it kept doing it to me until I got some advice on how to correct my stance and grip. Recoil and the grip texture doesn't bother me at all. I only went with the 9mm version because I could get faster follow up shots.

I love mine and I have small hands. I shoot it best withe the flush 5 round mag with my little finger under the mag. Springfield has a special now where you get a 5,6,and 7 round mag.

Thanks, guys...

But C'mon, no; I don't think I'm not holding the "light gun" properly; not a problem with G21s or 3" alloy 1911s in same weight class. Think it has to do with config rather than technique; Guess I'll wait until I can test drive one...
Polymer may just not be "the" platform; if technique is required to overcome the torque, Detonics or a 4513 or CS-45 is fine with me, and I can live with the weight. I won't carry a P-10 either, but own Kimber Super Carry Ultra and 2 Sig Ultras. No issues: "limp wrist" is an excuse to not say "it doesn't work for me."

If it will it will-If it won't, it won't-If it does, it does...

Well like I said, I think it's a factor of shooting a heavy bullet out of a light gun with a narrow grip, not necessarily your technique.

I have both a G30 and an XDS .45 3.3" and they both shoot very well, I don't honestly think either one of them "twists" in the hand, but then again recoil is a very subjective thing so what I feel others may interpret differently. I have a 9mm XDS 3.3" too and the XDS45 doesn't recoil much more at all than the 9mm version. I do highly recommend the XDS lineup.

I don't think I'm not holding the "light gun" properly

It's not that you are holding the gun “properly”. But I’m sure it's how you are holding the gun.

For me, any gun will twist in recoil if I don't support the gun from behind. As in “get behind the gun”.
It's most noticeable, for me with my G19. If I reach around to get more finger on the trigger, the gun twists in recoil.
If I get behind it, it recoils straight back. Life is a compromise.

I have owned 3 of them. I am a circus midget basically with small hands. It fit me perfect and shot excellent, no twist. My brother in law is a 6'5" 250 lb biker who has hands the size of a baseball glove. He cant hold on to it. I guess it just depends on who ya are.

I have both guns you mentioned since they both were released, the 30 about 20 yrs ago now a 30 S, and never experienced this twist.
