Well I went to Sportsman's on Friday night and they happened to have one XDs in stock. This gun has been a hot ticket item and I was on my wish list so I left the store with. After paying for it of course....

Its a fantastic little pistol. Fit and finish is top notch. Engineering is amazing. Five + 1 .45ACP in a gun that is only an inch thick. Points well and sights are great.

Now here's my dilemma... I have been carrying a G26 or Kahr CM9 IWB religiously with a LCP in the pocket as a BUG. I have practiced with 9mm and feel very confident in my ability to shoot this round very well with the carry guns I own. After buying the XDs I actually felt remorse about the possibility of carrying .45ACP. Price to practice goes up dramatically, impulse purchase, need a new holster for it etc. etc.

Anyone have any thoughts or impressions from personal use of this little .45?

Just go shoot it. You will no longer have any doubt that you made a wise purchase.
Recoil feels like a 9mm due to the low bore to hand axis and they are stupidly accurate.
There is a reason, actually several, that these are a hot ticket item.

I have one and it works very well. It's an extremely accurate gun and mine has been 100% reliable. I enjoy carrying it much more than the G26 due to the slim profile. It's not ideal but a G26 holster will generally work with the XDs, at least mine did. Honestly, the G26 is a little easier to shoot but the XDs isn't all that difficult. I think it was a good purchase.

Great little gun and I don't even think recoil is that different than 9mm till you get into .45 super. Sounds like to me you have a great reason to start reloading than your price for 9mm and .45 will drop dramatically.

Bought the Bi-Tone last week, shot 150rds so far, 100 of those were LIGHT target reloads which should NOT have fuctioned in that gun, but it shot every one without fail. Looks like this is one heck of a gun.
As far as the cost of SD ammo, holsters and stuff that you don`t have, I know what you mean. The holster and mag pouch that comes with it is useable until you find what you want. Check out, www.sgammo.com for some good prices on 45acp. Good Luck

I was actually very surprised that the XDS didn't bark as much as what I thought it woud have. To me it seems to be more "softer" shooting than my G27.

Let me recommend the Hogue Handall Jr. as an add-on.

You'll remember cuss words you hadn't used in years getting it on (heating with a hair dryer or such is mandatory) but once there, it looks your pistol in your grip like you wouldn't believe. Highly enhances control of the gun, for me at least.
