well I couldn't quite wait for deer season to try the new 44spl load on game so this guy picked the wrong day to be a coyote:)

75 yards behind the eye (had to make a head shot as the grass was too tall to see the body)

240gr tru-cast above 6 grains of clays w/cci large pistol primer and rem. brass

oh yeah and that rattle snake...that was only like 10 yards but the ol' 44 sure did a good job of popping his head off!

You are a better shot than me. I don't have pics but I shot a Coyote 2 months ago at about 45 yards with a Silvertip. It took a second shot to finish the job. My favorite handgun is the 44. I mostly shoot specials during the year but 44mag with deer. The special would be plenty if I reloaded or got some of the custom loads available.

You can get them much closer than that with a good call and caller. But yeah we were using a call...I'm surprised you haven't been closer to them. Where I'm at is very low pop. there have been times deer or bear hunting when I've stumbled on them within 20 yards. Scares the crap outa both of us!

...I'm surprised you haven't been closer to them.
I got out of a parked car once, smelled wet dog, walked around the back of the vehicle, only to see one standing on the side of the road, about 10 feet away ... looking every bit as surprised as I was. He turned and trotted back into the woods.

I live just about 30 miles east of St. Louis in a rural area of southern Illinois. Population isn't very low around here, and the 'yotes are well hunted and quite skittish. I've never even seen one come past our barn, which is about 100 yards out from the house. They usually come no closer than the pasture or the fields behind it.

My S&W 686 would love to see one inside of handgun range.

Nice shooting!

The coyote I could live w/o killin, but that snake would have to go!

So what does one do with a coyote carcass?

When properly skinned and dried the pelts will bring at least the cost of a box of ammo with the tail. It used to be a lot more until the PETA idiots started ganging up on the hunters.

Bad day for the predators. Great shooting and thanks for the pics...gets me excited that hunting season is just around the corner.

What to do with coyotes you ask? Well in Utah we cut the ears and lower jaw off and turn them into the DNR for a cool 50 bucks.
