I work for a LE supply and we carry the SA brand. I can buy SA products at employee price, so I'm not gonna buy a Colt, Kimber, or DW, etc., at least not right now.

I have been wanting a 1911 bad, so I sold a couple of unloved pieces, and am ready to order a new toy.

For the funds I have, this is the nicest one I can afford, and I like it for what it is.

I would love a response from those who have one like it or similar, for I will be spending a lot of money on a gun I haven't touched.

The model I choose is the PX9152LP, 1911A1 Loaded Target Black Stainless.

Here's the pic and specs,

SA_1911_Loaded_Black_SS_Target_PX91.gif

SPECIFICATIONS:
Mfg Item Num: PX9152LP
Category: FIREARMS - HANDGUNS
Type :pistol
Action :Single / Double
Caliber :45 ACP
Barrel Length :5"
Capacity :7 + 1
Safety :Ambidextrous
Grips :Composite
Sights :Tritium Night Sights
Weight :40 oz
Finish :Black/Stainless Steel

It comes with G10 composite grips, fully adjustable Tritium night sights, 2 S/S mags with SlamPads, and all the regular "Loaded" features.

Do you think the model above is worth about $150 more than a regular Loaded model?

I would love to have that. If it came in 10mm, I would start to sell body parts to get it. (just kidding on the parts, but selling blood would still be on the list)

I have that model w/o the night sights. It's a fine gun, no issues other than I don't care for the front cocking serrations (I won it). Figure you're paying the $150 for the night sights and decide if they're worth it to you.

I also had the fixed sighted verson. IF I was looking at SA this would be a good pick and to me, worth the extra money.

Your decision.

I think highly of the SA 1911s in general, and this pistol would be a very nice shooter.

For the funds I have, this is the nicest one I can afford, and I like it for what it is.
That's what really counts. Myself, I prefer my stainless to be bead-blasted and equipped with fixed sights. But this one is for you, so you should get what you want. :)

If you can get SAs 1911's at cost I would step up a level. I would save my pennies at get a TRP.

But if this is your max get it. I am not fan of adjustable sights unless it is a range only gun but that it a preference not a criticism.

Enjoy whatever 1911 you get.

PAPACHUCK,

I have the full size loaded parkerized version(Also have the Stainless Champion on order). I have found it to be accurate and well made(for the most part). The only issues I've had are a rear night sight that kept creeping to the left under fire and the safety link tunnel over the left grip panel came loose. The latter would cause the pin to ride up on the ambi-safety latch and lock up the gun. I contacted Springfield Armory. I got to speak to a real person who was very nice and told me to send the gun directly to them. And they would take care of it even though my pistol had some "work" done. She said as long as the work is not the cause of the problem that the gun is still covered under warranty. I sent it off to SA and had it back fixed in about 8 days or so. Shipped right to my door postage paid by them both ways. My issues may not be typical. I've never heard anyone else complain about theirs. The impressive thing to me was the quality of their customer service. That is why I ordered another. Hope this helps.

I had a Loaded Fullsize Parkerized, maybe I bought a bad example of SA products, but mine was very sloppy.

1. Slide to bushing loose
2. Bushing to barrel loose
3. Loose extractor(Clocking issue)
4. Slide to frame loose
5. Left side safety dug into the grip, leaving a divot
6. Extractor stuck out of the slide .050"

Gun came with fixed NS, shot great after I fit a bushing to it.

But what do you expect for $629.00 + $35.00 shipping NIB?:)

If you get one, hopefully you can inspect it first. The Black SS is my personal favorite, in the Loaded price range;)

SA's are very sweet shooters, for the most part. Barrel to bushing fit on my Loaded Model is extremely tight. Slide to frame has no side to side movement.

I vote yes, go for it.

You think that wasn't polite? It was a bald statement. It is hard enough to describe a mechanical problem over the computer, no reason to complicate life by making up names for stuff.
You want impolite, just read the Internet Commandos of the 101st Chairborne getting on the case of somebody who dares call a magazine a clip. Which their grandfathers probably did while shooting at Axis troops.

I'm sorry for further complicating your life Jim. You seemed to figure out what I meant in spite of the inaccurate terminology. Breathe deep. Everything is gonna be ok. ;)

Oh HAIL Yea! That is one fine piece! Dearly love the 1911s, I treasure my own Springer Loaded 9mm, and that matte black finish with the polished flats is one of the nicest looking 1911s to be had at any price. I give this pending firearm procurement a double thumbs up! - skeeter_08

that is a nice starter gun. a bit more than i'd recommend, but than i'd try to maximize the savings on the deal you're getting too

as a personal preference, i wouldn't get the adjustable rear sight, the night sights or the black finished stainless construction...but that's just me.

i'm a big fan of the Professional model and would think the dealer price would be irresistible...would it be a much bigger stretch?

I have that pistiol. Here's a picture of mine.

It's a great pistol and has been 100% reliable. I use it for Club matches so I've done some modifying to it. A C&S Trigger kit, Dawson FO front site, Hogue wrap around grip and a lighter recoil spring.

Here's newer picture of it.

Grab it.

If it's only for the range, then go for it. If you intend to carry it, I'd go with fixed sights. Other than that, you're good to go! That's a fine looking pistol and Springfield is fine company with the an outstanding reputation. You will kick yourself if you don't jump on this employee price deal, at least sometime in your life.

It's beautiful. If you feel good about it get it. As long as they reliably go bang, guns are more personal preference than anything else I think. So I say if you want it, get it.

is it me or does that gun look like Kimbers Eclipse series pistol? If it is, that is one gorgeous finish and style!
