Autumn has faded into Winter, and as the seasons march on maybe a look back and forward is in order.

Some of us made meat with our shotguns, some just busted clays, tin cans or steel plates.

Some of us sat ready as Mallards lowered into the dekes, or thrilled as a 12 pointer moved in to slug range.

Some of us thumbed shells into hot autoloaders as we moved through a fast, tricky COF.

Some of us dropped shells into sleek doubles and cussed at fake rabbits and supersonic teal..

Some of us held shotguns as things went bump in the night secure in the fact that said things would go thud if they threatened us, our families and communities.

ALL of us will get to vote on our "Leaders" again next fall, and whether our children and their children will get to enjoy the benefits of liberty depends on our choices.

The Second Amendment to our Constitution provides a litmus test for the pols.

Either they regard all of us as barely controllable, violent and unbalanced proles who must be driven, controlled and directed or as responsible citizens fully capable of being accountable for the defense of our families, homes and ourselves.

Voting is not a privilege, it's an important duty. Voting for the politicians with a proper regard for an armed citizenry assumes the gravity of a Sacred Trust.

And, regardless of whether our favorite shotgun is a bespoke Purdey or a PGO ChiCom clone pumpgun, there's folks bent on us not having these.

Or any guns at all.

Ask the ghosts of Auschwitz how well depending on the government to defend you can work.,

Or those of Virginia Tech, where a risk free zone for wackos was created by bureaucrats.

Anyway, go vote every chance you have and vote the IId Amendment.

And have a Happy New Year also....

Very well said, Dave- as always. Life gives us much to think about, much to enjoy as well as lots of work to do. And fie on all those who would have us work- or play- without our choice of arms.

Thanks, folks.

Lee, what the politicians don't say publicly is gun control benefits them. Unarmed folks are less able to contest their decisions.

Kimber, new firearms would be nice, but I'll settle for more rounds through the ones I have.

Very well said and a Happy New Years to all.

I'll be watching the progress of HB 915 here in Georgia that would clean up our convoluted carry laws a bunch. I emailed my state representatives and let them know that my vote is hinged mainly on whether they support this bill. We all have to get and stay involved...

Dave,

As always....well said.

We face a rough general assembly session this year in Maryland and your words are timely and appropriate.

Great post! This New Year brings 2 new voters(twin 18 year olds) into the mix. I think they have listened, because they are asking lots of questions about the candidates. We can only hope.

Thanls Folks. Let's put a bit of effort into educating non shooters. One of the best ways to do that is to take them shooting.

BA/UU/R can be a political act.
