Yet another reason why i love guns is because I was recently asked by a friend of mine's girlfriend "what kinds of guns are you into?" That is when it really hit me how many different styles of shooting/guns their are she asked me to name five okay target rimfire, long range precision, 3 gun, skeet, sass are the first five that pop up and as I was explaining to her more and more kept entering my mind :D I love the fact you can get into so many different kinds of shooting

Funny you bring this up. Many times I have read people who write say that if crime were suddenly and magically to disappear they would give up their guns. Are they crazy? No me. I freely admit that I love the darned things. I love the workmanship, the metallurgy, the finesse, everything about them. I enjoy shooting them and just handling them. I frequently go down in my basement and open my safe just to look and to handle some of them.

No way I would just give up my firearms. Would someone just give up their camera collection, or their fine china, or perhaps their collection of old vinyl records? They why on earth would a gun person, of all people, make such a statement that if crime disappeared they would turn in their guns?

For as long as I can remember I have always been fascinated by anything and everything related to guns. Everything from their historical perspective to their mechanical design to their practical application has been of great interest to me.

There are many people who do own a firearm strictly as a defensive tool, do not enjoy them otherwise.

I'm certainly not in that camp, though :D

Got asked recently by a friend what shotgun he should buy for home defense and for some occasional skeet. I said "two of them....a reasonably-cheap short-barreled one with attachment rails for home defense, and a decent long-barreled for skeet".:D

Several of my guns belonged to long gone family members. Each gun serves as a link to that relative. One or two guns came from friends. Those guns remind me of how hard it is to make (and be) a real friend.

When I shoot or even just handle those guns I recall good times and great fun days afield hunting or just wandering in the woods.

I would never willingly give up my guns. Too much of my life is tied up in their presence.

Right there with you guys, pretty much everything that's been said here.
I deeply enjoy recreational shooting and each in my collection has at least a story or two behind 'em at the very least.

Aye, Aye....I buy guns to shoot and have fun with. It is merely a coincidence that I can use them to protect my life.

I love guns because they are (or can be) precision instruments. Plus they are sometimes things of beauty. They can have historical significance, sentimental value, or just be fun to shoot and handle.

Additionally, they can save your life! How many other things do you own that can do these many thing?

Yet another reason I love punctuation. :p

I was actually discussing this with a friend the other day. Firearms are the confluence of physics, chemistry, engineering, and art all stuffed into a package that is actually a very functional tool that could save your life (or the lives of others).
Pretty hard to argue with that.
