I have a modest collection of firearms about 5-6 pistols and 3-4 long guns mostly for target and hunting. No real high dollar collections like some, but still probably a few thousand to replace.

One of the guns my Springfield XD I keep out for home protection. My kids are getting older (4 and 5) and I really want to get a RCS safe to keep the firearms away from curious kids and potential smash and grab.

I want myself and my wife to have quick access to the XD and plan on getting one of those gunvault fingerprint pistol safes to keep by the bed. My question is what is a “decent” not high dollar RSC for my applications ? Especially since we are not talking about $10K + worth of firarms ??

Thanks.

Safe shopping! That's always fun.

Try http://www.6mmbr.com/gunsafes.html

The bottom of that page has links to 20+ manufacturer's web sites so you can see what's out there.

You can Google for web pricing, to find out what the approximate prices ought to be, but I always recommend trying to buy locally.

y2k;

This question comes up with some regularity here. My stock answer is to get the one that has the features you need, at the least price. There's no substantial protective difference between most of them, (RSC's).

That being said, the Winchester found at many Sam's Club's, seems to be a very good value for the money according to several sources.

tip: get one larger than what you need because they fill up fast. i got one of the 14 gun rscs from dicks. it does what i need it to do; keep them locked up away from kids and guests.
