At $700.00 - $900.00, how about a Colt Series 70 reissue, or a "LN" STI Trojan 5.0?
 
S&W emailed me to let me know they were were going to go over the 1911 with a fine-tooth comb and make it right... we will see.

Meanwhile, the local range had a Sig show, with demo models you could shoot, and yes, I got to shoot my next 1911... the GSR. However, I will wait until a few production runs are out to work out the bugs; I've done my beta testing elsewhere with S&W. (btw, the 220's aren't so bad either ;) )
 
"NRM" means "New Roll Mark", when Colt went back to the future and started using smaller slide markings again. Older people like me think it looks bettter. There's also a consensus that Colt also re-committed to higher quality at the same time they changed from the "ORM" (old roll mark) to the NRM, but I'm not qualified enough to know for sure.
