My stainless steel Phantom 556 come apart yesterday. The threaded part was still on the barrel and the rest went down range. Doesn't look like a baffle strike not really sure what happened. Anyway I'm sending it back today. Anybody have any experience sending stuff back to YHM for warranty? Thanks

Call them and explain what happened. Sounds like the weld might have given loose. They are pretty good about making things right. If you could, take a few pictures and post them. It would be interesting to see where it sheared and what the inside looks like.

I already called an explained what happened and they told me to send the can and the barrel it was on to them to get checked out. I was just curious if anybody else had dealt with a issue like this with YHM. Didn't see much on the internet about YHM problems so I hope that's a good thing. I'll post some pics tomorrow when I can get back to my computer.

Most suppressor makers will fix it if its their fault, and charge a reasonable fee to fix it if its your fault (baffle strike).

Gemtech is giving me a new Multimount suppressor because of catastrophic tube failure (threads for the LID may have been cut a bit too deep) and are eating the $200 tax for the new one because the failure was "their fault". Great service, but still I'm without it for 4+ months now waiting for E-forms :(

I hope mine can be fixed and not replaced. I hate to think about waiting all over again.

Here's some pics of the damage done. The part with the threads stayed on the barrel and was tight. No sign of a baffle strike. In the close up photo you can see how clean the break is. Almost like it was cut.

I'll go out on a limb and say it looks like the threaded part is an insert and the weld holding it to the tube broke. I suspect it can be repaired. I'd hope they'd do it quickly and for free.

I will join you on that limb. Looks like the weld gave way. I hate to impose on the OP, but could you get a shot of the inside of the suppressor body to show the shear point there?

Sorry I didn't get a picture of that end before I sent it back.

Ah, well. Thanks for the photos anyway. You'd think that when they're charging $500-1,200 for these things, they could thread the front and end caps on and THEN weld if they feel like it.

I'm currently waiting on this exact suppressor. Hoping that the OP has his fixed quickly and that was just a bad weld.

Suppressor was delivered to them this past Thursday. Haven't heard anything from them yet. I'll wait a couple more days then call if I haven't heard anything yet.

Talked to the folks at YHM today. Suppressor is repaired and getting refinished. Should be back to me sometime next week:)

YHM Suppressor

I just bought a new YHM QD Phantom M2 in 7.62 yesterday. I shot a YHM 5.56 QD years back and love their price-friendly and effective products. I'm glad to see you had a positive experience with their customer service. I did some poking around months back and have found both good and bad (mostly good), but again YHM makes a very good product in my eyes. Customer service is key in any product purchased.

YHM makes it easier to get into the NFA game. Good products at good prices.

Got my suppressor back today. Looks great and sounds good. I would say an 18 day turn around for repair and refinishing isn't bad at all. Thanks go out to the crew at YHM!
