First let me say I'm not the world's best shot. I've had handguns for a long time but never put forth a concerted effort to get good (that has begun to change). I've never been particularly good firing DA although my DW M15 would make anyone look like a hero SA.

I tried three revolvers tonight at the range.
GP100 5.5" .22 rf with Fed Champ .22.LR
GP100 4.2" .357 with .38 Spl 130 gr FMJ
S&W M60 1.875" with .38 Spl 130 gr FMJ

Target at 5yd
GP100 .22 - Meh...
GP100 .357/.38 - Meh...
S&W M60 .38 - DA 5 Shots in 2.0" and SA 5 Shots in 1 Hole.

Guess it just goes to show you never really know how you will shoot something until you try.

One of the advantages of a revolver is the variety of grips that can be put on them. Find one that fits your hand and your shooting can be improved to an extent with just a screwdriver and 5 minutes. It’s not a miracle cure but a revolver that’s comfortable in the hand makes it easier to concentrate on the fundamentals.

I'm sorry but shooting at 5 yards doesn't tell you anything about your shooting ability or how well you shoot the gun.

Dave

The one hole one second per shot drill is actually supposed to be done at 3 yards but the trolly won't come in that far. Admittedly in SA Mode that's hard to do with a Revolver.

It been my experience if you shoot worse with a gun at 5 yards it won't get better at 25 yards.
