I know perfectly well, that the modern Dixieland is NOT infested by hordes of dumb bigots, rednecks, yokels and yahoos!

I've been in Dixie twice and I really LOVE that region, especially New Orleans, Charleston SC, Savannah and Natchez.

BUT there is no doubt, that there were some anti-black sentiments in that region in the past.

THAT was the reason for my question.

There is an exploding black middle class that gets virtually no mention in the US press yet it is visible in any major southern city.
