You'll never know what you'll find...

I've been having similar discoveries these last several months.

The 6.5x55 Swede ammo for a rifle that I bought back when they first started coming into the country. Had sold that rifle years ago, but then traded for it back about six months before I found the ammo again. The half a can of 303 British for the No. 4 Mk ! Enfield I once had. Not sure why I kept the ammo, but there it was. Odd boxes of this and that scattered hither and yon so that it turned out I had way more .30-06 and 22lr than I thought I had.

Decided "enough of that" and started putting everything in their own labeled cans. Nice to find I have more than I thought, but also annoying to discover I already had it!

Let's see. I've come across ammo I reloaded over 20 years ago and forgot about. (You don't want to know what my garage looks like.) Then there were the 200 rounds of commercial 30-30 ammo, a Pietta Remington 1858 still in the grease and box, a couple of Lee presses obtained at swap meets, and a few other matters. All forgotten and buried under other stuff. It doesn't happen every day but seems to be more frequent as I get older. SIGH!!

Too many conversations with my wife start with her asking "Don't you have (name the topic) in a box in the garage?" And she's right, as usual. :D

That's so cool when that happens. When I was moving a few years ago, I found a South African battle pack of 300 rounds of 5.56 in my workshop on top of a storage cabinet. Which is really weird, since that workshop was automotive in nature. Gun activities happened in the 2 car garage attached to the other side of the house. I have no memory of when or where I obtained that ammo, much less putting it in the workshop. I think it may have been left there 8+ years before by the previous homeowner. I did fire it, though.

When I started at THR I was but a budding enthusiast and also a poor college kid. I remember when I’d read posts like these I would struggle to understand them. How could you forget you had something?

Now I understand

With the panic under way and ten years of serious reloading under my belt I started digging through ammo cans and drawers in my shop which made a mess and I did somewhat of a reorganizing... haha I found all kinds of stuff I forgot I had. It was awesome. 200 ish rounds of factory 223 ammo, 500 rounds Remington 45acp, 2-3 boxes of 9mm and 40S&W I forgot about. A set of magpul BUIS. 2000 pistol primers I’d shoved in a random spot. 500 cases of ready to load Winchester 223 cases. A large box of 357 brass, oh and an old Playboy magazine...This was on top of the stuff I was actually looking for:)

I did find 1000 rounds of .22 when I was looking for something else last weekend. I don't remember buying it, but there it was...still in the bag with receipt dated 2017 and the xxxx-last 4 digits of my debit card. No doubt I bought it, yet somehow it fell between the seat and console of my old Cherokee.

Usually seems like if I lose something, I know I lost it and have spent time looking for it before it randomly shows up somewhere I know I looked.

Occasionally things turn up that I have no recollection of whatsoever. Sometimes it's ammo and at least twice has been a gun. Most times it's an ugly hat or shirt that was on clearance and gets shoved back in whatever hole I found it in.

I ran across 2 wooden crates that I thought were empty, one was 7.62x54R the other was 7.62x39, I've had ammo cans stacked on them for years, probably around 20 or 25. I also found some 38swchp marked $7.99 a box and 44mag hp marked $9.99. I need to clean up the garage.

I'll clean your garage for a little bit of your treasures ....... Hahahaha

Found two wooden crates of 7.62x54R 7n1. No recollection of buying it.

And 5 German prewar 7.92 mauser battle packs in the closest. Also absolutely no recollection of buying it.

I recently discovered an ammo can with nearly 500 rounds of .380 ammo. I no longer have a .380 pistol.
Since you no longer have a .380 pistol, (neither do I, really) SOMEONE wants it. Unless you have other plans (like getting another pistol in that caliber) you would be well advised to sell it off. And you do not have to charge a scalper's price, either. You don't have to loose money on it, either. And it will be out of your hair and house.

Good idea. I may try and trade them. Trouble is I am in California and selling ammo is a pain. I thought about hanging in to it and buying another .380 but there are too many other guns I want.
