Good news, sanity has prevailed. At her appeal hearing they decided that the suspension should be time served and she is going back to school.

Yeah, I heard about that, too. I wonder if a Wise Principal should have said,

"Well, State Law requires a suspension. You are hereby suspended... for one minute."

Looks at watch.

Sixty ticks.

"Okay, your suspension has been served. Go back to class."

Just wondering.

I swear, you don't play an active role in your local/state/national politics for 20 or 30 years and all hell breaks loose...

Very good... Very good indeed.

It must be remembered that the people running our schools, education majors, have the lowest SAT scores compared to other academic majors. People go into teaching in the US because they "like kids." It has nothing to do with the love of learning or even having any real gray matter between their ears.

^ That would be an interesting fact if you could document it.

Otherwise, it smells like libel.

ohhh how the times have changed

OOOhhh how the times have changed...I remember back in 83-86 when I was in JROTC (Cal Cadet Corps) at Norwalk High in So Cal walking the school grounds with a 03A3 on my shoulder or practicing for the Norwalk City Color Guard by twirling, tossing the rifles around in groups (in basic exhibition drill team style) or just practicing the manual of arms alone without the facility blinking an eye.....BTW we had a indoor rifle range on the school grounds aswell.......oooohh I'm getting old.....if any of you were fellow Cal Cadet in that time period send me a PM I would love to chat and catchup

I was one of the first "Post Toasties," a graduate of C. W. Post College on Long Island --a campus of Long Island University (LIU).

This was --geeze, it was so long ago I don't remember exactly --late 50s, early 1960s, I guess, and there was an underground firing range on the campus, off from the main buildings of the Post Estate, on the Southwest (!) part of the estate.

The campus was sold to LIU by the heirs of Charles W. Post of cereal fame and wealth. Wasn't much, lighting was poor, ventilation was nil, but it was a firing range, and I actually shot a friend's .22 pistol down there. He was a licensed CCW from Suffolk County and had a PI license as well. They were my first shots with a powder-actuated handgun.

I wonder if there are any Post College students or graduates who remember this, and can tell me if it still exists. Knowing the present population/mentality of Long Island, I'd bet that it has been bulldozed over by now, but it was there long ago, and I shot in it.

Tell you what, no lie, sweartagawd truth, it was so long ago that my diploma was completely in Latin. No kidding! I had some trouble with this a while ago when I needed to document my college credentials by presenting the original, and they would not accept it since nobody could translate it! (They finally did accept it when I had them contact the college directly for confirmation.)

Now them's the good ole days!

Oh BTW 230RN:

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) compiles loads of statistics on education. The NCES "Digest of Education Statistics" Table 136 shows average SAT scores by student characteristics for 2001. Students who select education as their major have the lowest SAT scores of any major (964). Math majors have the highest (1174).

This is from Walter Williams nationally syndicated column.

Most school teachers have met are rather dim in the head, though most are rather nice people, but niceness dosen't do the job.

I graduated HS in 99 and I was participated in several National Championship Armed Drill Team competitions while I was in JROTC.

This is complete nonsense.

I graduated in 2001 and we used to go hunting befroe class and leave our rifles in our trucks during school. :banghead:

Times are changing quickly... and for the worse I am afraid.:(

Heh. I though common sense and proportion was something that only flew out of the British window. How did our countries become so infested with such worthless chumps?
