Your carry knives: Clip or holster?

Almost all of my knives are carried by using the clip. Even the balisongs. Only a knife without a clip would have a holster for me...with the exception of the BM Infidel.

Do you clip your knife to your pocket or carry in a sheath/holster?

I would go with a clip; works with everything, even drawstring or sweat pants with no belt...just my .2 cents, YMMV

All my knives are clipped unless I am hunting, hiking, camping, and other such activities.

Well, I carry 2 knives (a little thin folder and a larger, stouter 3" folder) every day, those are both clipped to a pocket. If I anticipate trouble and for whatever reason can't bring a gun with me, I also OC a 6" dagger in a belt sheath.

2 in pockets ( mission wallet ) , 1 clipped , and 1 fixed blade word horizontal.

The clip is OK for some of my knives, but I use a holster for the kerambit.

Neither. I drop a Case Stockman in my pocket. So far, it cuts what needs cutting.

Benchmade Resistor clipped, Leatherman dropped inside pocket. I carry both - I like the flexibilty.

I carry an older Spydero Endura clipped IWB. I like the Endura because it's a decent size blade and flat enough to carry comfortably. Cased, I have a Leatherman and a cell phone. And a slip joint in my pocket, today a Victorinox farmer.

If I carry any of my leathermans I use a sheath.
Otherwise I will carry it in my pocket with a lanyard.

I always carry a folder clipped to my strong side pocket (yes always, unless I'm in a situation where I can't legally carry a knife, like on an airplane or something). I occasionally carry a small fixed blade, sheathed strong side or weak side, as the mood strikes me. I very rarely carry a multitool, holstered on my weak side.

I also have a smaller 'keychain' multitool, that I basically never carry, because I've found that I have enough crap on my key ring already.

My EDC is a Boy Scout pattern made by Keen Kutter, carried in an open-topped belt sheath. If I'm wearing clothing that has no belt, I usually carry a Wenger Soldier in the pocket with a lanyard for pulling it out.

All but three of our knives (I share mine with my daughter) use a sheath. Of the other three, two have a clip, and one is a flap-over holster. The sheath type knives are our hunting knives. The other three are daily-carry types. The reason we like the like the clip or holster type is in case of an accident.

In my 1995, 5-vehicle-accident, the seatbelt would not release, and the interior was filled with "smoke". Who knew airbags release "smoke". It pretty much scared the feces outta me. Wouldn't you know, I didn't have a knife. Well, now I always carry the means of extricating myself and others. The problem with a pocketknife is, how do you reach into your pocket when the seatbelt has you locked-down with python-like pressure?

I like the convenience and low-profile of a knife with a pocket clip.

My brother is a blade enthusiast, and I don't mean a guy with all kinds of fantasy weapons laying around. He takes his knives very seriously and we all rely on him to maintain everything from kitchen knives to axes. He has an entry-level Kershaw with open assist that he modified to make it just about the nicest knife I have ever handled. I am looking for something at the moment that he can work his magic on, and it will definitely have a clip and see daily use if the chewed-up POS Gerber I have now is any indication.

how do you reach into your pocket when the seatbelt has you locked-down with python-like pressure?

Great point , which is why I started carrying a small fixed blade horizontal carry ( worn just to the left of the belt buckle ) for 5+ years now , first it was a Benchmade 210 , then a Trace Rinaldi Matrix , and now one of my EDFU models.

It is much easier and faster to access than a folder , but being a dedicated knife nutt , I carry a few of those as well. Different blade for different tasks , though my small fixed blade does 80% of the work.
