Surefire 6p, goes with me everywhere. Without a doubt the best flashlight I've ever owned.

Hutch, do a search on the E2e Outdoorsperson. It looks like an E2e but has a longer clip

Skunkabilly got it right - the E2E has an "Outdoorsman" model - it's the same as the regular E2E, but with a longer clip.
Mine had the original short clip and I broke it. They'll send a free replacement, but I didn't bother, because I like to carry my light tip (bulb) down IWB (easier for me to draw that way). I think their clip is rather cheesy anyway.
I had a bigger, wider steel clip that I attached by winding paracord around it, leaving enough cord to wrap around my fingers, and at the end to make it fit around my wrist. I'll have to do a couple pics to show you. Oleg has the Outdoorsman model, and I'll get him to photograph that also.

I think you need two lights.
A smaller light, I carry a Scorpion, or other such Streamlight or Surefire.
And a larger aircraft aluminum light, Streamlight/Maglight, that will double duty as an impact weapon. Train with both.

I have shot at night. My first expereince with this was at My first personal defense course. On the third day when I was felling pretty cocky with my shooting abilities we went out that night and I couldn't hit anything for the first 30 rounds or so. Groups never did tighten up until the second night.
I shoot alot at evening/night now. Necessary training and just plain fun

Just got my Surefire G2 Nitrolon yesterday. For their cheapest model, I am very impressed. The standard 60 lumen light is very bright. I looked at the beam and was seeing spots for 10 minutes. I may order the P61 lamp for a scorching 120 lumens. With that much light at night, you may not need pepper spray!

I had a Mini Maglite in a neat little belt pouch but it has gotten to where it doesn't want to work unless you tap it on stuff

For personal light just to see stuff with, a Photon or Pelican LED on the key ring. For serious light, SF or Streamlight in the 6P/Scorpion family. SF has a high-output lamp assembly for the 6P-Z series that cranks 120 lumens. It eats those $5 batteries rather quickly tho.

The batteries arent that expensive anymore -- Surefire is selling them for $15 for 12!

I carry a Pila GL2 every where I go. Neat little light. Has an 80 lumen Xenon bulb for the main lamp and the tailcap is a 5 lumen LED lamp for those times when you don't want a miniature sun. about the same length as a 6P but a bit thicker.

I carry a Surefire 6P with me everywhere. I'm gonna pick up the 120 lumen lamp as soon as the local shop gets some in, I can't even imagine how bright that is gonna be
I bought a G2 Nitrolon as my first tactical light. Great price, great light. But I keep accidentally activating the thing in my pant pocket! I see that they sell a switch upgrade that looks to be more resistant to this kind of accidental activation, but it's only available fo the higher end models:

I use a Glock light - on my Beretta! It fits, was cheap (compared to the M3s and others anyway), and works. 2 CR123s. - around 60-70 lumens (my estimate).
I often carry a Streamlight "TwinTask" with both LED and 74 lumen Xenon bulb. It works well for what I do with it but the switch would be difficult to index in a REAL emergency. I might get something brighter later.

Surefire G2Z on my nightstand. I also carry it when I am out at night, plus take it with me on all trips.

The 6P tailcaps do fit the G2 Nitrolon, but by themself they cost more than the light does. So I think I am going to keep the Nitorolon in a holster in the car as backup.
I ordered a Streamlight Baton (for the keychain), a Pelican M6 LED and a bunch of batteries last night from brightguy.com. If the Pelican doesn't have the light output that I want I'll use it as a camping light, which would make a great application for it regardless, and buy a Surefire G2Z or E2D for daily carry.

I have an Arc AAA on my keychain and carry a Surefire L4 body with a KL1 head (15 lumens for 3 hours, 2 CR123 batts) wherever I go. I carry the KL1 for longer life as opposed to brightness.
