Redneck, now ya went and done it! :D I found a .357 Herrett barrel with dies on ebay. Same seller is also selling a .30 herrett and a .357 Max barrel with dies and brass.

I put a bid in on the Max, and am watching the .357 Herrett. Heh. It does seem like a very interesting cartridge...

P95: Is it OK to get another barrel if it comes with a frame? ;) The 357 Herrett can be a handful with 180-200 grain bullets in the 10" bull barrel especially in the early style grips which were not very freindly to your hands. The first contender I bought came with two barrels a 8" 45 Colt/ 410 barrel with external choke and a 10" bull 357 Herrett. Still have em! :)

My Contender barrel is a 17 inch Hart SS 1-7 twist 222 Rem Mag Improved. Plan to use it in Pella, IA this next weekend at a 1000 yard shoot to see if I can hit some clay pigeons with it @ 1k. Be shooting the 80 grain Sierra Match King.

Howdy Ernie!
Good to see you over here.
I've been tempted to get my 223 barrel rechambered to 222mag imp, but it shoots so good as is I'd hate to louse that up. The only thing I have that almost qualifies for those LOONNNGGGG range shoots is my 308 Striker, but I sure wish I could make it out there to watch.

1) .223 Rem., groundhog and feral cats.
2) 7X30 Waters, antelope.
3) .45-70 Govt., Ohio whitetail.

.22 Hornet (10") that I just had rechambered from .22 LR for fun and varmints

30/30 with 2X scope for deer

.45/.410 for clays and close rabbits (.410). Haven't found a use yet for the .45 LC since it is not that accurate. Of course, the inch and a half jump to get to the rifling could have something to do with that.

Got rid of a 14" .223 since where I hunt varmints, it is too noisy for the neighbors. .22 Hornet fills the bill for that activity.

Got rid of a 14" .45/70 since it was just no fun to shoot - only brutal on arthritis sore wrists. It was accurate though.

10 inch .30-30 for hunting

20 inch .30-30 with ejector and carbine stock

10 inch .45 colt/.410 with ejector to entertain squirrels

10 inch 10mm Auto for working up loads and plinking

1. 12" 223 Custom Shop w/ MT FUN
2. 10" 45 WinMag FUN
3. 10" 357 Mag FUN
4. 14" 44 Mag FUN
5. 14" 7-30 Waters FUN
6. 14" 300 Savage really FUN
7. 14" 35 Rem FUN
8. 12" 22 LR really FUN
9. 16" 45-70 w/MT the MOST fun, my "buddy gun"

Now I can also call my 44 Mag a buddy gun, as well when I let them shoot some 240 gr. jacketed with a good stiff load of 296/H110...I would like to see Dirty Harry shoot those out of his Smith. ;)

future purchases will include the following....
6mm TCU, 25 TCU, 33 Winchester, and whatever else is out there that I can lay my grubby hands on...including extra frames...all of mine are either current "engraved" frames or older models that have been converted to easy break.
