Your favorite way to carry a single action?

That's the same holster made by the same person I posted in Post #9 above. I agree, he does make a great holster.
Isn't that because the person whose pic you used is actually Bob Wright? Correct me if I'm wrong Bob but you carry a .44 special blackhawk? I used to carry the super blackhawk bisley with the 3.75 inch barrel she was a beaut.

I carry them in a number of different ways starting with belt carry (on strong side). This is a Barranti Threepersons holster (5 1/2-inch .45 Colt Bisley).

This is another belt rig by Graveyard Jack made from elephant skin -- it's one of my absolute favorite rigs.

This is a chest rig by 7x Leather that is hard to beat. You can still wear a backpack and it won't impede.

Those are nice rigs, do you cc a single action?

Did carry a .44 Special, a Three Screw as shown, then a New Model Flat Top, now a New Model Blackhawk .45 Colt. The .45 is on the left in thes photo, the holster is by the same maker, design suggested by someone who thought he knew a thing or two about gun carry.

I carry mine a couple of different ways:

I made a nice old school cowboy rig from a kit. I popped a couple rivets in the center of the belt loop so that I could thread my belt to let it hang fully down and tie it with a strap or thread it under the rivets to keep it up higher.

When canoeing or traveling by car, I have found that both my SAA clone as well as my new 5.5" Blackhawk ride securely in a tanker shoulder holster. The only modification I did was to remove the belt loop and added a D ring so that the strap crosses at mt belt line instead of my stomach. It's not as secure, but it gives me more range of motion should I get dumped out of the boat. The strap across the grip also offers some insurance that the lake doesn't claim my gun. Won't win me any quick draw contests, but it works for the woods.

One of the easier and surprisingly comfortable AND concealing methods I frequently do with a modified Galco holster set up for a 4" large frame DA. I popped a rivet and couple stitches where the front of my trigger guard meets and it holds the gun tight enough that the cylinder won't spin yet keeps the trigger uncovered. It rides high and tight at 4 o'clock. Since I am still a fair bit broader at the shoulders than the waist, the bulk of the gun hides away. The higher ride means I clear leather faster too.

I'm not sure who's picture that is, it is there when I click on the "Your Attachments" button at the bottom of the box. My point was to agree with the post praising that holster, nothing else. I only used the picture because it was in my picture attachments. I think that happens when you quote a post with a picture attached. I didn't set out to use someone's picture and did not take credit for it.

No I didn't mean anything like that, I just thought it funny that it was Bobs pic and he came on the thread.

For my single actions with 6.5" barrel or longer I prefer cross draw. Doesn't bother me when I sit and if I'm carrying a rifle on my right shoulder The stock doesn't bang into it. 5.5" barrel or less I typically just carry strong side a little back of center. I do use shoulder holsters also and have been toying with the idea of an across the chest rig.

I use this around the ranch and hunting. Sometimes, I'll just wear the holster on a pants belt.

As to that being my picture, yes it is mine. As to the use of it, I'm downright flattered! I am, after all, a very vain man.

And my later comment was simply my attempt at humor.

And, you are a hell-of-a-lot thinner than I am! Trust me, no one wants to see me in profile lol...

I used to carry mine in a Duke style rig from El Paso, I like it but it rubs my saddle cantle a bit more than I would like:

I picked up a Kirkpatrick crossdraw rig on a super sale and I have been liking that quite a bit.

I don't have any pics of the new rig yet, for some reason. Will have to fix that...

Either way, I'm very flattered to see pics of my work posted. :)
They are remarkably good looking holsters!
I read on your site that you are doing them in batches now.

Do you have any SAA 5 1/2" Threepersons for sale, perchance?
I have a hankering for a good Threepersons for some reason :D

I'm going to make a run to Tandy tomorrow. I'm hankering to make a minimalist cross draw rig. Maybe build in some cartridge loops. Just something basic.

Thzts a nice looking rig. Who made that one?
Do tell.

I think it was made in Mexico. Picked it up at the huge Tulsa Gun Show - 5 or 6 years ago. The vendor had 4 tables of holsters and cartridge belts black or tan. A friend of mine went back to the show a few years later and thinks he found them. Their info (no website):

My only complaint is the holster squeaks. The holster, loop, and back flap (for a lack of the correct term) are riveted together. I do like that it's suede lined and recall the price for the whole rig was affordable.
