The first gun I ever owned was a Savage 22 lr semi auto (forgot the model number, but it was probably a 1940's vintage) that my dad gave to me after buying it from our Dentist.:D

The first gun I ever bought with my own money was a Ruger 10/22.

6 years old 1941 Remington model 72 .22LR was my grandpa's taught my dad how to shoot with it my dad taught me how to shoot with it still have it and in a few years will be teach my son how to shoot with it. sad though because the ejector is waring down and it has started falling to load properly :(

A brown remington nylon 66 22 when I was in 7th grade. It was a superb little rifle that never choked or failed to feed. Wish I still had it. Traded it to a religious nut job for a bow. Nut job still has it, but unfortunately decided to move out into the desert to await... whatever is going to happen.

winchester .22 bolt-action single-shot

My dad gave me a Winchester .22 bolt-action single-shot rifle with a cut-down stock when I was 7. You had to pull back the striker to cock it, and the safety was a big ol' steel ring with a tab that you turned to block a peg on the striker. It was VERY safe--you had to do a lot of work to fire it.

Later he gave me a Savage over-under camp gun in .22 Mag/20 gauge. Wish I still had that gun, like so many more that I've owned...

First pistol was a K-17 Smith in .22 Magnum.

Mine was a .22 bolt action that was ordered out of a Sears&Roebuck catalog. I do not remember who made it. Wish I still had it.:(

Marlin 81DL .22 bolt action with peep sights. Mother gave to Dad on their wedding anniversary in 1946. Dad gave it to me when I was in my ‘teens. It is still safely tucked away in the safe.

My first was a Mosin Nagant M44. Never shot it, sold it. Second was a Savage 110 in 7mm Rem Mag. Never shot it, sold it. Third times the charm though, saved up for a while and got a Kimber Tactical Custom II; has about 1000 rounds down the pipe now.

My first shooting thingy was a daisy airrifle, followed by a crossman mark 2 pistol.

My first firearm was a semi-auto G3, bought 1 months before they were made illegal here and I had to sell it at a massive loss (paid £450, sold it for £250) to a guy who was exporting them.

The first one I actually got some use out of was a bolt-action .410 I used for wood pigeons and occassionally rabbits. I paid £20 for it and when I sold it 10 years and 2,000 shells later it was still flawless. I wish I still had it, it was a beast.

I can't recall the model but it was a 22 single action that I ordered from Herters for 30 bucks...I was only 10, I had my mom sign the catalog order form, and sent it off with a MO. I got a little pink slip in the mail one day from Railway Express (before UPS was used) rode my bike down to the office and the guy pulls out this cardboard box out of the safe and just hands it over...just like that! :) I picked up some shells at a hardware store on my way home and when I got home...I proceeded to pepper a floor beam in our basement...:) I couldn't shoot it outside since I lived in the city.....sorry for the long story but it's something I recall all too well...:D

I was about 8 or 9, and it was a single shot bolt action .22 rifle. I think it was a Sears, but that was a very long time ago, so I'm not sure.

Mine was also a single bolt action .22 from Sears. It might have said "J. C. Higgins" (Hitchins? Hutchins?) on the barrel. After you close the bolt, you manually cocked it by pulling back a sort of flattened knob at the back end of the bolt.

Colt AR-15 A2 Sporter

Not really a normal first gun, but it was the only one I had any real experience with prior to buying it, so I thought it made sense.

Second was a Ruger MK II, a little more "reasonable".

cnorman18-I believe that was a twin to my first gun. They were Winchester model 67 single shot .22's. I still have mine-had it for more than 50 years. Still a good shooter! I'll use it to teach my grandsons.

Mossberg 500 12 Gauge combo, with 26" vent rib barrel with removable chokes, and 24" rifled slug barrel with rifle sights. Still have the gun and the 26" barrel. Sold the slug barrel and bought a replacement with cantilevered scope mount and an 18.5" cylinder bore barrel with rifle sights.

Daisy Powerline 856 10 pump BB/Pellet gun. Bought it with my paper route money about 20 years ago. That gun has treated me right. Still have it. In fact I used it a couple years ago to hunt quail just for fun and got three with it. Admittedly, this was out in the boonies where quail apparently weren't very afraid of humans.
