This whole UN-marking thing for imported/exported firearms is causing a big fuss up here in canada, because we are now taking part in it. People are complaining that its going to jack up prices for firearms a couple hundred dollers, and de-preciate the value for antique or collectable firearms. Although I only agree with the second part of that statement, I just recently got my reciept for my glock 17 that I paid for about 2 weeks ago. It's on its way, about another week for shipping, pretty pumped about getting this as it will be my first 9mm firearm.
Anyways, on the reciept there is the following serial number

LCD0xx (ICN41xx)

The 'x's are actually numbers that I have purposly left out, but I'm just curious to see if this marking that they're all talking about is part of the serial number.
Is it normal for the serial number to contain the CD or CN in there? Or is that how all of your glocks are?

Until I see it in person I won't be able to tell if they've put anything like 'canada' or CA on the frame somewhere else..

So if you could just check your S/N of your glock and just compare it and let me know if this s/n is normal, i would appreciate it.

Not a big deal at all, more curiousity than anything.

Normal Glock serial numbers 3 letters followed by 3 numbers.

There have been some slight variations for recalls and such, but it should only be six characters.

For whatever it's worth, my 1998 G19 has a "US" suffix after the serial number. This is the actual serial number, on the little metal plate in the frame; the letters and numbers - with no suffix - are marked on the slide and barrel.

To me, a "UN" suffix would be distasteful, but this is not a political thread. ;)

I was trying to find a web page that explains exactly what a glock serial number means, as in when exactly it was made. Every link that I have tried, has turned up dead, no longer working. There was one on glock talk that you could submit and they'd email you, but it doesn't work. And then there was on that was a forum post about serial numbers, and that link was dead in google.
Finally I found one that explains that the letters represent a month and year, but according to that post my serial number is invalid as the letters do not pertain to any month thats listed... weird.

RP86, the links do not work. On top of that, the list that RITM gives makes no sense at all when comparing my own serial number..

That post by RITM is not even remotely correct for any gun made in the last 10+ years or ever.

Go herehttp://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=412093 this should give you most of the answers. Not all serial numbers are present but just find where yours fits.

ETA: Yours should have been made around May/June of this year(2007).
