Want do you think about RM low rider IWB holsters for a Glock 23? They seem to be rated very highly on Rig Ratings and the Glock forums.

I have also ordered a Milt Sparks Versa Max II in August and haven't gotten it let. With the Milt Sparks II, can it be worn at the 3 o'clock to 4 o'clock oppissions or does it need to be worn further back? I weigh 148 pound and 5’X4” tall. I am not large around the waist and wounding if this holster will work for me? It seems that the most natural draw position is at the above 3 to 4 o’clock. I bought the holster because of the high recommendations and I carry concealed.

PS: I ordered a costom made, heavy duty gun belt with a piece of spring steel swone into it and it comes with the etching, total cost $50.00. The name of the company is A.E Nelson Leather Company in Scio, Orgeon. They have been in bussiness since 1938. Best price I found on a any good quality belts. Check out the wibe site and the prices. Some belts start at $30.00. Mine cost more because of the steel and additional work.

Versa Max II

Howdy and welcome to THR. Hope you like the folks here. A lot of people with good experience, but you'll find a lot of us stubborn as mules.. we'll consider the information given and still have to prove it to ourself.

This is especially true of which is the best gun, best caliber, best holster, etc..

For me, the jury is still out. I like the way it conceals. Strangely enough, I am 5' 5" tall and 182 lbs...:uhoh: Depending on who you're asking and what weight scale that I'm using at the time.:neener:

I'm very deliberate when I test my carry gear(practice rolls, falls, etc. to test retention and comfort.. I've been in enough fights in my life to want the best that I can afford) and I think I might have to ask for a little different angle for my holster to ease the draw stroke.

Having said that I have had four guys whom I know are people who carry concealed because they go often in harms way for our government (different agencies) and three of them recommended the Versa MaxII, the other one loves his kydex holster.)

Good luck in picking the best holster for you.

Question?

Hi Chuck 123,
Sorry for the ignorance.. the holster that is a RM IWB.. who is the maker, please?

Thanks for the info, please.

Carry gun?

Hi Chuck123,
Here in Los Angeles County us civvies aren't allowed to carry due to our benevolent lawmakers.

I carry in the house though. When I first moved into my present home about 20 years ago, my house had 11 attempted break ins. Imagine coming home to find a window smashed, daylight in a room which has closed vertical blinds (doesn't let a lot of light in the house during the day.) because the room window has been smashed in.

I figured it was kids from the local high school. The alarm chased them off each time. Then we had several occasions to call PD and the average response time here is 3 to 5 minutes. I know it is a long time if you got a BG trying to get in, but it is nice to know that the cavalry arrives quickly.

Doesn't make me feel safe enough to not have a weapon on me in the night when I am on THR with my PC.

So I carry a H & K .40 compact.. I am going back and forth on the Versa-Max II, a Ted Blocker leather holster IWB, and a kydex holster from Hoffner's Custom holsters.

One year I went to my mom's house on Halloween. My wife and daughter go trick or treating in the local mall. My mom lives in an area that is known for being generous at this time so people bring kids from outside the area in busses. My mom who lives alone, said that she was starting to see pretty big "kids" that she hadn't seen before, come around earlier. She had a bad feeling about some of these kids.

So I volunteered to go sit out the popular hours for trick or treating. I asked my mom to close up at about 8:00 to 8:30. She did but after she closed the door someone banged on the door. I yelled at her not to open the door but she did and a teenager in dark trench coat was pushing his way into the house. My mom is about 4' 10" tall, about 90 lbs. sopping wet and she is now 84 years old. This happened when she was 79.

I had a cheapie one size fits all holster so as I drew my handgun while moving to the front door, the entire setup came out with the gun. Good thing all all the kid saw was the draw stroke and he backpaddled out the door, tripping and tumbling over the stairs and into two guys dressed similarly who were trying to follow him into the house. Last I saw was them running down the street.

So, keep testing and please make sure that your chosen holsters don't do what happened to me in the past. Good luck in your choices.

I have a Milt Sparks VM2 for my 1911.

I usually wear it at 3-4 o'clock, and it conceals VERY well; my family members and fiancee usually don't know if I am wearing it or not. I even have a moderate case of the dreaded "Dunlop Disease," and this is a very comfortable holster. The weight will get to you before anything else.

It's hard to believe, but this holster really IS all that and a bag of chips- easily worth every penny they are asking as well as every minute of the wait. Just make sure you have a good belt, but that goes for any CCW rig. I use 1 1/4" belts myself, and I have no problems whatsoever.
