All great guns. If I had to rate them in an order I'd say Colt, Smith, then ruger. I've handled all three, but only shot the SRH. SRH would be fine and get any job done, but I think it is ugly as sin. The Colt is beautiful, but given the price, no thanks...... though I'd love to have one. All said, I'd probably buy the Smith. Nice balance of practicality, looks, and price.
 
Sounds like you voted down the Smith, so it's between Ruger and Colt. I have 3 N frame Smiths and a SRH Alaskan 454, but no Colts, so my vote goes to the Ruger for your purposes. If you're going to shoot the snot out of it, definitely get the Ruger.
 
Never had a Redhawk .44 magnum...just several Super Blackhawk ones.

Don't know which is better but I prefer the Anaconda followed by any of the S&W .44 magnums.
