Your 'Rodney Dangerfield' guns.

Beretta PX4 Storm. I got two of them (one in 9mm, the other in .40S&W), but despite being a thoroughly modern polymer framed, combat proven duty pistol, they get very little respect, at least in the US market. Much of that lack of respect probably has to do with its polarizing "space gun" looks.View attachment 1192122

Funny, I've been lusting after the PX4, I like the looks and from what I have heard from a lot of reviewers and writers, it's a super accurate and reliable gun. I also have the Beretta 1301 Tactical and love it, I am becoming a Beretta fan.

I had one of those, it was a very nicely built little gun. I just sold it because the ammo is really expensive and pretty wimpy so not a lot of bang for the buck if you want to actually shoot it.
Actually I consider the 32acp a great SD choice because it is accurate, very soft shooting which makes accurate and rapid followup shots not just possible but easier. I will admit I prefer larger pistols when I choose 32acp like my Beretta 81 or Walther PK380 or CCP M2+ 380 but the CZ is definitely easier to conceal.

Other guns often criticized in the Web but I had:

Gone:
Marlin 55 bolt action shotgun
RG10 .22 short revolver
Grendel P10 .380 pistol

Gifted to son who has fond memories shooting them:
Smith and Wesson 916A 12 ga pump action (Noble Model 66 design)
Mossberg Bullpup 500 with telescopic sight

Kept by me:
Garcia Bronco skeletonized .22 single shot
Jennings J22 .22 pocket pistol
Raven .25 pistol
ArmaLite AR-7 Explorer

The Armalite AR-7 rifle with Henry 8-shot magazines and CCI Mini-Mag 40gr CPRN is pretty reliable semi-auto and with CCI Quiet .22 Presegmented Hollowpoint vewy quiet and straight-pull bolt action, Unlike my Ruger MkII pistol and Nylon 66, Quiet-22 (CB Long Rifle) won;'t even try to move the AR-7 bolt.
I really like the S&W 916A (have had 3, still have 1).
Bought my first one new, shot the ever-loving crap out of it, and when I finally took it apart for a thorough cleaning/polish/inspection, I realized it had fired several hundred rounds with a broken firing pin.
These guns were dependable, solid, and well-made (for the modest price)…imho, plenty respectable !

This one can be considered to be a real Rodney Dangerfield special. It gets no respect at all. Some of you older members can recall the low budget, Raven semi-automatic pistols chambered in .25 ACP , which were one of that famous "Saturday Night Special" type of firearm that the gun banners were loudly disrespecting back in the 1970's & 80's. This one came into the LGS in 1995 as part of a multiple gun trade-in deal and the shop owner wouldn't even put it in his display case. Talk about getting no respect !! His exact words to me were; " I don't stock junk; you want it? Gimme 25 bucks". So I figured "Why not?" and bought it. Not as a carry piece or for any other serious usage, but just as a curiosity item. It rarely gets shot, and since 1995 my log book shows only 208 rounds in all those years. Only thing that broke was the firing pin in 2006 but they are simple to replace. Back in March of 1995, when I acquired this, I was working in a chemical waste incinerator which did gun burns a few times a year for different police departments. We incinerated a lot of Ravens back then, because they were widely available, cheap, and commonly involved in a lot of street crime. So this one is a survivor, but that doesn't make it rare or valuable. Just part of a bygone era in firearms history. Here's my submission for the Rodney Dangerfield gun award. IMG_1592.JPG .. I love the odd shooters that stray from the norm. I'd have to say the one I enjoy the most but gets no respect and alot of people don't even know what it is would be my cobray double D sideXside 410/45C Derringer. It gets laughed at but I promise know one would laugh while standing close in front of it. It is wicked when running 45 loads or 410 slugs. The one pic is next to my naa 22mag mini revolver for size comparison. 20231017_151505.jpg 20231017_151532.jpg they also made a 16 inch barrel version with a folding stock which goes for ridiculous money when they come up for sale.

I believe the S&W Model 916 pump action shotgun was originally made by Noble Manufacturing as their Model 66. When Noble went out of business in the early '70s S&W bought their designs, patents, tooling, and machinery and produced their version of the gun. Broken firing pins and problems with ejectors and barrels led S&W to discontinue making them.

Bottom line neither Noble or S&W could overcome design and manufacturing problems in turning out these poor quality shotguns.

A ~Kimber~ of course. Mine only functions reliably with 9X19mm, .38 Super, .38 Super Comp, .38TJ and 9X23 Win. Trying to figure out how I can dump this thing on some poor unsuspecting shmuck;)

Taurus guns aren't the most popular. I have a stainless 445 4 Special 2". Love that gun. It's not a lightweight but I pocket carry it a lot. People who have seen and shot it, like it.
I have the same gun in matte blue titanium. I love it as well. I used to carry it all the time when I lived in PA. It was also my choice to carry when walking to dog late a night

My Shield EZ PC, 9mm flavor. I see a lot of love it or hate it here. My buddy has a nerve disease that worked its way to his hands. So we looked at them. We both ended up getting one, his the standard, mine a PC. Loved the lighter weight, easier takedown, materials that it's made of and great trigger. But that God awful grip safety! Stuck out of the grip like a massive tumor! I've since found a replacement that is almost flush fit. So now I'm back in the love camp again.
