Your thoughts about 7.62 x 54r for hunting?

I like the groups that I get using the lead tipped Winchester 7.62x54r through my 91/30MN. At 100yards, and using a rest, I can hold 1 moa EASILY. Still working on someplace to go this fall.

I use Prvi 7.62x54R 150 gr soft points. Seems like they are hard to get ahold of though. I have a small stock I only will use for hunting.

The deer I shot 3 years that was missing the back of its skull would tell you 7.62x54R worked just fine.

all the soft points in x54r are perfect for deer hunting. the problem is finding them.

also, some states allow you to use fmj on feral animals, ie some states let you go hunt feral pig with fmj. nothing really is going to beat .54r heavy ball for penetration.
