Lots of votes for 3-Gun but since most other countries don't trust their citizens with auto loading rifles it would pretty much just be a U.S. thing. I'd like to see some sort of long distance High Power rifle shooting.

I think a lot of the countries that don't trust their citizenry would simply conduct the training in a very controlled environment. For instance, you can bet your fortune cookies that China would collect a group of 5 year olds the day that event was announced and start training them in center-fire auto-rifles.

For countries not that extreme they'd probably turn to the military.

Jamie Lynn Gray of the USA set a new Olympic record on her way to claiming the gold medal in the women's 50m rifle gold medal today. Gray scored a total of 691.9 to claim gold ahead of Serbia's Ivana Maksimovic and Adela Sykorova of the Czech Republic.

That is an awesome achievement! Congratulations!

I wonder how many in the USA even know what "50m rifle" is? Any new Olympic shooting sport need to be action-packed and spectator-friendly.

More and more I think something like the Steel Challenge would be the best.

I voted 3-gun, and I think something like the Steel Challenge would be an awesome event, or the summer biathlon some have mentioned. As far as being exciting/spectator friendly, let's face it, NBC aired the Olympic speed-walking event (racewalking) yesterday...

Bowling pin shooting!

I voted for 3-gun so there would be an all-around event of some kind. Perhaps bolt-actions could be used instead?

I'm going out of the choice range.... American Trapshooting by ATA rules.
That might be fun but there is already international skeet, trap and double-trap.

There is no action shooting at all. I see high-power rifle getting a lot of votes. Just imagine how boring THAT would be to watch. Much like watching paint dry.

I would like to see side-by-side Steel Challenge-style using 9mm production pistols. It could be made very fan-friendly if there were two copies of every stage -- maybe add a 9th and possibly a 10th stage for the Olympics. Have two competitors line-up against each other at random at each stage. They get a point for every "duel" they win. At the end of a day or two the top, xy shooters advance to the finals. That would be hardcore exciting.

Very much like this except with a better camera angle:

Pounding down bud lights and shooting the empties as they float down the bayou.

Bib overalls optional.

Arkinsaw should be able to field a formidable team! When I was over there a couple weeks ago, I learned that environmentally conscious 'cou rouges' no longer shoot every snake or turtle they see. Rather they furnish their own targets. One 'team' even had a designated driver.

We did a summer biathlon here involving mountain bicycles and handguns on reactive steel targets. Make the bicycle part more steeplechase and you've got something eminently watchable.

IDPA would work as well if the targets were reactive, say split steels, so there's something to watch.
