Can anyone tell me the correct lenght of a yugo 48 firing pin. I had some light strikes on some milsurp ammo lately and have changed the firing pin spring, that helped but still getting light strikes. It has no problem with factory ammo. The pin doesn't look broken. I know the milsurp ammo has hard primers but didn't have a problem before. Bolt is as clean as I can get it so I don't think thats the problem either. I'm getting it ready for Deer hunting so it needs to be right.:banghead:

What counts here is the firing pin protrusion, and that should be .055-.060". That equates to approximately 1/16", of course.
If the protrusion is ok, then perhaps the headspace may be too large and will need to be checked with gauges. If every thing checks out, it probably is the ammo not being up to spec.
As you probably know, the Yugo M48 and 24/47 model has a shorter firing pin compared to a full length M98.

Here's a site with FP dimensions. Scan down the page, it has a bunch of information.

Replacement FP are a little hard to find. Maybe look on www.gunbroker.com.

Thanks for the info NC. I'm on my way to the basement to check the measurements. I was aware of the firing pin differences and found where guys were cutting down M98 pins for there Yugos because of the scarcity of parts. Thanks again!
