i got this Yugo Mauser 24 47 in an estate sale. i quickly put a S&K mount and Leupold FXII scout scope on it. this is a fun gun! i love the 8MM round. talk about knock down power! as soon as i zeroed the scope, i put 7 rounds down range at 100yds and got a 2" group. My first 4 consecutive shots shot sub MOA.....and that is with 1977 surplus ammo and a 2x scope. not bad for this old clunker......

i got the mount on gunbroker for $80 i think. the rings came with it. the mount is good for the yugo 48 and yugo 24/47.

I have a S&K mount and Bushnell Trophy 2-6 scope on my 1937 98K and it's a rock solid base/scope combo. My rifle shoots a consistent 3 MOA with 1950's yugo surplus ammo. With S&B commerical ammo my groups drop to ~ 2.5".

anything 3MOA and under is solid for surplus grade. i cant wait to hunt with this gun, but im afraid im going to blow the deer in half.

If you reload, the 8mm Mauser cartridge can easily be loaded to equal 30'06 ballistics, and has the potential to handle heavier bullets.
Some European ammo is more potent than Win or Rem stuff, but it comes down to what soft points shoot best in your rifle.
Wolf Gold is reasonably priced and should be good for deer.
I have used Prvi-Partizan in my Mosin and Swede Mauser with good results. Both Prvi and Wolf Gold use reloadable cases.

I'm loading 160grain ttsx's in mine for hunting, and the MUCH cheaper 185 grain core lokts for just shooting. The remingtons are actually more accurate but man that ttsx is devistating. I hope to get it to the range again soon, as soon as a range opens in my area. I miss ranges.

Would you describe the bore/rifling as good condition, or even better?

By the way, a friend bought a beautiful Czech VZ-24 Mauser at a show.
He found a scope mount on Amazon which allows installment with No drilling/cutting required.

With no permanent alterations, they keep their value.

im glad you asked. the bore looks mint. in fact i wonder if the gun has even been broken it yet. the bore is as bright and shiny as my other new guns and the rifling is perfect. i wouldn't be surprised if the rifle doesnt even have 100 rds through it.
