Best Scout Scope?

I'm planning on scoping my mosin with the S&K scout scope mount, and need advice on what scope goes best. It looks like the fixed 2x or 4x scopes from leupold or nikon have plenty of eye relief, and that the leupold 2.5-8 has 18" eye relief for all magnification.

What do people think who have actually used these for milsurp scoped madness? I know I'll be putting lots of rounds downrange (after all, it is a mosin) so I want a tough scope that will stand up to 5,000 rounds (or more)
