Ok, so I have the chance to buy a nicely built Yugo M70 underfolder AK47 from a guy locally to me. He needs the cash bad (over extended himself on another gun buy) and he has dropped his asking price down to $450 with 4 mags and about 400 rds of ammo.

The gun looks good cosmetically and a quick inspection of the internals shows that it was put together properly ( has the tapco internals) and no sign of wear on the hammer from the bolt riding it (this is a common issue on some vulcan/hesse builds). The barrel is yugo and is in good shape and not shot out like most.

now here is the BIG issue for me... it is built on a Vulcan receiver...:cuss: He is going to do the file test today and check the hardness of the receiver. If it turns out ok I am really tempted to buy the gun.

I am thinking even if this later turns out to be a POS receiver i could get a nodak receiver to swap in (parts kits on yugo m70's are getting more expensive nowadays) since between the parts kit, the american parts, the mags and the ammo I would be doing fine on spending only $450...

what do you all think? ( I know that hesse/vulcan are not that great).

"Nicely built", but does it run?

It's not the hardness of the whole receiver that really matters.

It's the hardness around the hammer and trigger and safety pivot pin holes that matters. No/shoddy heat treat in these areas can lead to egging.
