I've googled this to death and can't find an answer. Maybe I'm just missing the obvious. I just purchased a Yugo 8mm 24/47 Mauser. It came in and the stock was a bit darker than I would have liked. During disassembly for cosmoline removal I managed to break the stock. That clip and cosmoline are pretty strong together. No big deal. Another stock would be fine. That being said, I can't find a replacement stock for the life of me. Am I missing something with compatability on a different Mauser that they are listed under? I'm not looking for anything fancy. I would take a synthetic for $75ish and a nice wood for around $125. I would prefer as little gunsmithing as possible on the install. As usual, any help is appreciated.

search the web I cant remember what sight it was but the yugo and 98k are two different guns, yugo has more wood and shorter bolt just typt inyugo m-24/47 mauser stocks and you'll find something you like.

Go to.... Mausercentral.com or sporterizing.com. tons of info on all types of old military arms and oots of super nice people to help you out. Also these sites have classifieds were i have seen countless numbers of military take off stocks for dirt cheap.

Numrich has them on thier web site for under $40. I ordered one several weeks ago and got one in unissued, unfinished condition.

Boyd's Stocks...

Nosmr 2--It's unwise to guess on the fit of a particular stock for a particular old military surplus rifle. If you want a Boyd's stock, you'll have to pay a little more than your stated price, however you will get a FINE-looking stock.

The way to go about it is to telephone Boyd's and talk with one of their reps. They are very familiar with the process of walking a newbie through the choosing, and getting exactly the right stock for a given rifle.

The Boyd's website doesn't say anything about the Yugo 24/47 specifically. That doesn't mean that they can't fit you, it means you have to call and ask. Website: www.boydsgunstocks.com

I put a Boyd's stock on a Yugo M-48, and (a) Boyd's was VERY helpful all through the process, and (b) the stock turned out nicer than I had any right to expect.

If you can't find a M24/47 stock, you should be able to find a Yugo M48 stock...they seem to be more readily available and it should work fine with your M24/47. My M24/47 actually came with a replaced M48 stock and it looks great. You'll be missing the rear sling loop and the butt is a bit different but it's not a huge problem (I just put my m24/47 sling through the k98 type sling hole in the m48 stock and it works great). Good luck and enjoy your M24/47 (mine is easily my favorite bolt action rifle of any that I own).

Thanks for the help. Now I gotta figure out what I want to do. Numrich has the unfinished stocks w/out the hand guard. But those Boyds sure look nice.

Richard's Microfit has stocks for the M48 which is the same length action as the 24/47.

http://rifle-stocks.com/

Click the "closeout bargain list" and you'll see that they have standard style or thumbhole style available for the M48.
Of course you can look the whole site over, but most stocks will need sanding and finishing.
