Ok, my SKS shoots well enough for casual close range plinking, but I can't dial in the front sight for more precise 100yd shooting because the only SKS front sight tool to which I have access will not work on Yugos. (It's not mine, so I can't file on it).

Can anyone point me to a source for one intended for Yugos, please?

I ran into the same issue with mine. I don't know if there is one for the Yugo that is readily available. My suggestion would be to just buy your own and file it to fit, they're only $15 at the most.

What I believe the OP is running into is that the front sight post is too thick to fit in the tool's slot. I had too widen the slot with a file so that I could get it to fit over the front sight post.

I've got one you can have. All I ask is that you cover $6 for shipping. Tell me how wide it needs to be for the Yugo front sights and I'll double check to see if mine will work.

I only paid about $5 for mine and it works fine on my Yugo and my Norinco. I have no idea where I bought it though. It's been too many years ago.

for my sks I used a small piece of brass tubing that was a tight fit on the post and I tapped it down on the sight and it formed tight fit. a few wiggles and it goes on and off. I drilled aa hole through the non formed end and put a small nail to form a t handle- cheap and works well.

It should take an SKS front sight tool.

I bought mine from Tech-sights, along with a replacement front sight post, and peep sight. All work great on my M59/66A1 Yugo.

If you haven't adjusted the sight yet, it might be a good idea to soak the post/post base in BreakFree CLP, or something similar for a few days to break up any rust/grime in the threads.

I also found that the front sight tool Tech-Sights sells fit my Yugo SKS front sight, when no other tool would fit.

If you don't have a TS rear already ... I'd be considering it, that's about the best thing you can do for an SKS and longer range shooting, unless you want to mount an optic somehow (the gas tube cover and recoil spring cover aren't really that stable)
