Yugo SKS
I'm thinking of getting a Yugo SKS. They are now selling them without the grenade launcher (so they're PRK legal), and there's a muzzle brake where it used to be. What do you think of Yugo SKSs? Reliability, accuracy, etc. Theyre selling them at my local gun shop but they're also selling them on Impact Guns, so you can check 'em out. http://www.impactguns.com/store/yugo_sks_ca_legal.html

I can reliably hit a 10" gong at 200 yards from the shoulder with my Yugo. Never had a problem. It is really pleasant to shoot, but I would suggest finding non-corrosive ammo. I have two, but have been shooting the one with the aftermarket stock. The Yugo's stock, like other SKSs has a short LOP.

I would look for matching numbers.

There are several CA-legal Yugo SKS variations. I have one of the Century rifles with the muzzle break in place of the grenade launcher, and a couple of my friends also have them. They look and work fine. Ours were graded "Very Good" by Century. Unfortunately, for the past few months they've only had "Good" rifles available with the muzzle break, so I'd be concerned about corrosion in the bore and general wear unless you can examine them before buying.

There is also a company that is welding a sleeve over the grenade launcher to make them CA-legal. Also, a couple of companies are removing the grenade launchers and threads. At least one of these told me that the bayonet no longer locks solidly into the open position after this alteration. I haven't seen any first had except the VG Century muzzle break rifles.
