Hey y'all,
Was wondering how the original M59 Yugo SKS's compare with the much more widely-used M59/66's with the ugly grenade launcher on them.

I have an M59 (C-series serial#) that I refinished to bring out the wear marks and put the etching of its original owner's name under glass so to speak. Also had it reblued and it looks just fantastic all the way around now.

Was wondering of the M59's compare better mechanically or just what separates these two models from one another in others' eyes. Thanks!

I have both and are my favorites. Both shoot tight groups but the M 59 66 was tighter with 2 inch grp at 100 yards on a sandbag rest using surplus Yugo FMJs.

The grenade launcher on the Model 59/66 can cause problems with gas leakage around the shut-off. Caused by improper maintenance after using the corrosive Yugo ammo. I, too, have both. The Model 59 is more compact.
