Anyone have any experience with the Zastava M76? They're available for a whopping $2400 from J&G Sales. Here's something to shoot all those milsurp 8mm Mauser rounds from. Looks interesting...once they put in on sale!

I'm wondering how accurate they are, if its just another Drugavov/SVD variant, what recoil is like? Seems to me a round like the 8mm Mauser is better suited for this type rifle than the 7.64x54r...

Also, Sarco had parts kits for $995 for the M76 but no receivers. I understand that with a Druganov receiver and a "knowledgeable" gunsmith, you can assemble a workable copy?

Yeah, there are a few fellows who are very familiar with that rifle. You see, most of these M76's were sold by SOG at something around $1300-$1500 several years ago. They came in original Yugo receivers with all accessories. They were the real deal, like getting a Soviet Issued Dragunov with all the gear.

Then the BATFE decided that, because they were cut for the safety sear, they were machine guns. Beyond being absurd, as if any nation issued a select fire sniper's rifle, they decided to confiscate them. Folks who bought theirs found ATF agents knocking at their doors, hand out, ready to take the rifle. A few guys parted the rifles out, especially towards the end, when the knock on the door was inevitable, and handed the stripped receiver over (making for an expensive parts kit). So, a great many of these rebuilt Yugo M76's were first sold through SOG, were transferred to the buyers through the "yellow form" when it was still yellow, and were taken home. A few weeks later, they were surrendered to the ATF and broken up for parts. Now they are coming back out with US receivers costing much more money but historically worth much less. Since they are Yugo versions of the Romak-3 in design, though with Zrak optics and a milled receiver, it seems hardly worth the money.
