Zero JHP appear to have a very similar profile to Hornady XTPs for about $40 less per 1000.

Does anyone have any experience with these bullets? If so, how do they compare to XTPs? Can I use XTP loads with these (I'm mainly wondering about COAL)?

They seem too good to be true...

Which bullets?
I use Zeros as my full power plinking 357 bullet and XTP's for serious work. The Zeros aren't as nice a bullets as the XTP's. They are just cheaper made bullets. I use the same load on all my 158gr jacketed bullets but I am not maxed out so little variations in bullets doesnt make much of a difference.

I agree with Seafarer12. Zeros shoot very well for me. I don't shoot any premium bullets for plinking/target/practice, in pistol anyway.

Seafarer12 - When you compare the XTP and Zero JHP side by side, does it look like Zero just made a cheap attempt at the XTP design or is it a completely different profile? Are the two bullets the same overall length?

Zero .45 185 Gr....XTP .44 180 Gr....Zero .45 230 Gr

I don't have any XTP or Zero .38 158, just a .38 125 Gr Zero JSP on hand right now. Anybody else?

I wouldnt even call them the same design. The jacket on the XTP goes all the way to the hollow point and has groves in it to aid in expanding. The Zero's look like plain old jacketed hollow points. The top 20% or so is exposed lead with a hollow point. They look closer to Remington jacketed hollow points. As far as oal I can't tell you at the moment. I don't have any 158 grain xtp's arount. I have 125's and 180's but no 158's.

I'm actually interested in the 125gr bullets.

P.S. It looks like Zero makes two styles of JHPs -

They call these Jacketed Soft Points (JSP):

These are the JHPs I was referring to:

The 158gr XTP HP's and the 158gr XTP FP's are very nice and shoot very well. They are also very reasonable priced. (At least they were when I stocked up on them - haven't checked lately.)
