Finger slipped off the recoil plug and away it went...somewhere in the shed with all the junk laying around. Probably never to be seen again. I guess I'll have to give Brownell or somebody a call tomorrow. :banghead:

Zing went the Spring Plug

:D

If they'd just make'em like they USED to...with the little cut that screwed onto the end of the spring, that wouldn't happen. :p

I think I've got three or five spares layin' around here somewhere. Come on up and get one. Meanwhile, you can use a fired case for a "Field Expedient"
spring plug in case a terrorist shows up. :scrutiny: :D

Jim, I think you have a good idea; I'll just pop another one off and start my own Recoil Plug Breeding Farm.

Johnny, will email you off line.

That really stinks. I haven't lost that item specifically but I have had plenty of small screws, pins and springs bounce off of the floor and slip into another dimension..... Lost forever. The good news is you didn't catch it in an eye.

Medmo, it didn't pop out hard; I heard it go "tink" up against the wall in front of my work bench where I have tools and junk hanging, but dang it, looked all over, including the floor and couldn't find it. Will have another go at it today or tomorrow when it gets good light. Darn things don't cost much, just the aggravation of doing something stupid. :)

Glad I'm not the only one that happens to. Never lost one permanently, but they have been hard to find once in awhile. Lost springs from other guns that way, too.

Plug

Mail server's actin' up Ted. I have to be down in your area tomorrow to
test-fire a couple and pick one up for a tweak...Unless somethin' comes up
I should be in the area around 9 or so. Shoot me a PM with your house number and I'll drop it off. If I'm not gonna make it, I'll E-mail.

One of my buddies in West Germany back in '84, on a train coming back from the East/West German border, decided to clean his pistol. Well the spring plug went zing out the window, luckly we were stopped but the rocks are rather large sooo he climbs out to look, well we couldn't leave well enough alone and told him when he got to the area that we were leaving  :D this went on for awhile and we finaly left so it's still there.

I don't like loosing things, so when I work on spring powered parts. I set a large cardboard box on my table open end facing me of course. I then do my disassembly in the box 99% of time if part flies stays in box.

You're supposted to look for the part -that's how you get your shop cleaned !! When I worked at a gun shop there was a guy that was duck hunting . He lost the cap on the mag tube - but he did it three days in a row !!!

I was working at a large sporting goods store (before it became a national chain and was then sold) at the gun counter. Customer wanted to see how Glock 17 field stripped, so I demonstrated.

Upon reassembly I shot the plug (days before captive system) across several aisles of fishing gear. Yes, right in front of the customer, nice guy helped me look for a while. Took a week but we found it. Supervisor laughed at me, but no trouble came my way.

I was known as "Glockman" afterwards. :uhoh:

Good ole 1911Tuner came through with one; free, and even dropped it off at the local gas station since I wasn't home yesterday. Boy, it don't get better than that. But i'm afraid I'll wake up one morning and find a Collie sitting at my door with a note from 1911Tuner..."heres another freebie". :)

BTW, probably everyone knows this but me: he also suggested using a empty case as an expedient. Danged if that don't work! I even ground off a bit of the rim so it fit under the bushing. Shiney brass thing sorta looks nice.
